LEATT-BRACE (NECK PROTECTOR)
Anybody seen or used one of these? They are becoming pretty popular in MX and some other extreme sports. What are the possibilities in roadracing? The only drawback I see is possibly hindering your ability to look up the track while in a tucked race position. I think they are the next big safety device to come out since the knee brace! Here is a link to their site...

Re: LEATT-BRACE (NECK PROTECTOR)
They are talking about them in the Houston MX community quite a bit. I've had the same question about the ability to look up. They are custom fit and cost in the $400 to $700 range. This brace used in conjunction with the hats off system would be a greatly needed safety feature. MXer's say they can't even tell they have it on.

Re: LEATT-BRACE (NECK PROTECTOR)
I like the principle. I think in road racing the brace would actually hinder range of motion as well as the ability to look down the track in a corner... I don't know this for sure it just seems to reason...
We don't ride in an upright position and that seems to be what it is designed for...
I'm all for the idea. I've been wearing a collar bone protector while racing for almost three years... If the rear portion of the brace didn't come up so high I'd give it a try...

Re: LEATT-BRACE (NECK PROTECTOR)
what collar bone protector have you been using? I'm intrested in getting something to add a little safety to the area but still be able to move. this brace doesn't look like you'd have enough range of motion

Re: LEATT-BRACE (NECK PROTECTOR)
If you go to the web site they actually mention "superbike racing" which is roadracing. They show a model with a slightly lower rear section. But yeah, I was skeptical after seeing the pictures. Hopefully someone can get one to test, or they will test one soon. Definitely a necesity!
