    MSR Houston Track Question

    Back double apex - Turns 4 & 5

What is the purpose of the extra pavement through those turns, and then why put up a wall to prevent that extra pavement from being used?

    There's a wall there?

Concrete apron run off is something I wish we had more of at the tracks we use. Look at all the extra run off at COTA before the gravel traps.

You really don't see the wall and support bracing in the above pictures?

I know there is no wall for CMRA events, and I presume motorcycle track days as well.

    The questions again...

What is the purpose of the extra pavement, and then why the wall?

Is that maybe hay bails with a strip of asphalt immediately behind the edge stripe, making it appear as a shadow?

I don't recall seeing all that angled striping on the track, which is what has me thinking it might be some kind of bracing.

The drone video is what brought all this to my attention.

Very cool video, by the way!

I see painted lines on the asphalt. Here's a video of a car running there...no wall. Fast forward to 1:30.

That's not a shadow. That's the color of the asphalt.

There is no wall. Also if you're way out there on the extra asphalt you're doing to wrong lol.

There's a whole lot of strange going on in that corner.
