    Plastic Radiator Cap Safety Wiring

    Hi Walter or Tech Guru's

I'm wondering how you would safety wire this? It's plastic, and as you can see on the pictures the overflow is designed to be part of the cap itself. If I drill through the plastic I would be lucky to get some safety wire through it without damaging the cap and it not sealing.

    Thanks, Rab

Sounds like it’s probably my best shot. I’ll give that a try. Thanks Brandon.

Drill the hole at the bottom past the engagement area of the cap. You can pre-run the wire then twist it to its attachment point.

You can drill it if you want but I would go with the hose clamp.

I used the hose clamp technique - it's ugly but it works. The other way would work too, but would be easy to mess up if you let an amateur like me at it with a drill.

I can't believe I couldn't think of this myself. I was mightily confused by a different kind of cap than those regular metal fellows.

Superstock D and LWT, let's be having ya!

I am usually not the first person you should take advice from but I use to watch a lot of MacGyver.
