Cool NOVICE TO EXPERT PROMOTIONS FOR 2019!!

The Board of Directors an I have decided to try a different approach for Novice to Expert promotions for 2019.

Instead of publishing a promotion list this year we have decided to ask that Novice riders who feel that they are ready to be promoted to Expert step forward and request promotion.

Requests should be sent to the CMRA Administrator admin@cmraracing.com and addressed to the CMRA Board of Directors and Director of Competition.

Each request will be thoroughly reviewed and approved or denied.

    No sandbagging will be permitted.

So, if I don't submit a request, I can remain a novice next year?

Request to be promoted to expert, sent!

Also, I know people are going to ask, can the rider index still be posted? Everything is a competition.

The rider index is meaningless in the overall scheme. It only shows overall finish percentage compared to registered enteries. This year with the weather many were signed up but didnt go out or show up.

If you want to see the "competition" ranking go to the results page and look at the overall season rankings.

To place any value on the index as a ranking of ability is a joke. Overall finishes and points tells a more realistic story.

I agree with Michael on this one. The Rider Index has flaws that can skew it in the wrong direction. That's the main reason we stopped using it as the primary means of promotion. That being said I'll try to get it posted. Its a bit of a process to get it together so be patient.

Don't do it on my account. I just know there are multiple requests to see if every year, perhaps Michaels explanation will quell the masses.

Not complaining, but it seems the process is now purely subjective. Perhaps that's what it should be.

I guess my question would be how will sandbagging be policed? Do the other novices just have to complain? As long as there is contingency money on the line there will always be at least a few people who look at it and ask "win some money as a novice, or probably dont win anything as an expert?" and choose to remain novice. And while I would argue just putting all the dollars in expert and paying further down the order would be the real fix, as long as money is there for novices it would be nice for it to remain as fair as possible.
