Cool JULY MOTORSPORT RANCH DIRECTION CHANGE

The July 23-25 CMRA event at Motorsport Ranch that was originally scheduled to be run in the clockwise direction will now be run counter-clockwise. Other than the track direction the event schedule will be unchanged.

As most are aware the 1.7 mile course at Motorsport Ranch was recently resurfaced. Unfortunately bumps have appeared in several areas that have required grinding and other areas have required patching.

CMRA officials visited Motorsport Ranch on June 30th and performed a thorough inspection of the surface. Two areas of concern for motorcycle competition were identified. Those areas are the entrance of Turn 2 and the area between Turn 6 and Turn 5 in the clockwise direction. The high entry speeds in Turn 2 and the extreme lean angle while braking in the Turn 6 – Turn 5 area prompted the decision to change to the counter-clockwise direction for the July event. No other areas of concern were identified.

Motorsport Ranch owner Jack Farr and Management are working with their paving contractor to resolve these issues. This will likely be in the form of a complete repave prior to the August 27-29 event.

The CMRA and Motorsport Ranch have enjoyed a long relationship spanning 20 plus years. We are confident that these issues will be resolved moving forward.

Thank you for being on top of this Walter. At this time, is the August event still CCW?

Posted this in wrong thread, sharing here.

Walter, would it be possible to scrub July event and we just wait until repave? I know this wouldn’t be an easy decision, but possible to send a vote to the members?

I rode the track this past Sunday CCW and personally didn’t feel good about the condition.

Klesel has a point . The track is ehh for a session or 2 but then the surface breaks up and leaves gravel all over the place. The track guys had to go out and sweep it throughly at lunch for us to be able to ride in the afternoon. You might want to go inspect it at an event say at Lunch and see how the surface looks before they sweep it.

We'll continue to monitor the situation over the next few weeks. The large car events scheduled prior to our event are being moved. That should give the surface additional time to cure.

No, that should tell you that even the cars don’t want to run on it. If it’s not cured by now it’s not going to be.

Michael that's incorrect. The track is moving them to a later date. To be clear we have some experience with issues like this. We went through this when Hallett was repaved. We have 3 full weeks until our event. The additional time with lite use will make a difference. Will it be perfect, of course not. Will it be raceable, yes. It's disappointing that the new surface has issues but it is what it is at this point. Frankly its still better that many tracks out there.

So are the cars going to run on it again before the second replace?

If it’s just a matter of curing, why are they doing a complete repave?
