Thread: Compression test values.

    Compression test values.

Question here. what are the normal values for a compression test on a 1999 R6?. I need them for a p.s.i. scale because the service manual note it in bars. Thanks.

180-230 is the rough conversion. I believe that's when warm. Cold values would be slightly lower at 180ish minimum. A leakdown test will tell you much more about your engine.

oh nooooo.... beside the bad news i had from doing the test, you are giving me more bad ones. my readings from the test was 75 p.s.i. on cylinder 1 , 2 and 70 p.s.i. on cylinder3 and 4. can i rent a leak down tester anywhere? because they are way expensive.

Yeah that’s pretty low. I’m not sure if anyone rents leak down testers. I know Harbor Freight sells one. Has this bike been sitting for a long time?

I'm guessing its hard to start.

The leakdown test will tell the tale.
