Seriously, folks, I'd like feedback on the 'random number' vs 'first to the fax' basis for pre-entry grids at the first race. With the 'random number' approach, all pre-entries would be in the first rows, followed by at-track entries which would be gridded behind all pre-entered riders based on order at the regisration window.

I can accomodate either approach with no real difference on my end - the random number approach just gives a bit more equity to those that must mail entries with a check and to those that have real jobs and lives therefore cannot sit and monitor email and the forum 24/7.

    </div></div>

Sorry, I thought you were joking.

I don't think it makes sense to have 9 out of 10 grids based on performance and 1 based on sheer luck. The first grid needs to have some performance index and &quot;first to fax&quot; works for me. We're racers after all, if you can't race your way to a Kinko's then you should be gridded behind those that can.

But I'm still holding out for Qualifying as it obviously makes the most sense.

First to fax is the answer.

I like the qualifying idea best but its impossible with mixed bikes running in each classes. (600,750,1000) Its hard to know if someone with multiple bikes is riding their bigger or smaller bike.

My idea is set the grid on previous year statings for each class. I have a feeling that would be a headache for administration but it could work. At least champion for the class would be on pole.

All this wouldn't matter for me however since I always end up getting a bad start.

Since this is done only for the first race of the season I would say take all the pre-entries and grid them by the previous season standings and then anyone new that pre-entered behind them. If they don't pre-enter, put them to the back in the order they enter no matter what their standings.

Hey wait, what am I saying, this would be my chance to start at the front of the grid if we do it first fax. lol

then there lies a problem with the novices that are now going into the expert ranks. i believe first to fax is the most fair way to do it. it rewards those that don't wait til the last minute to pre-enter, and also everybody still has a fair chance.

i'm ashamed of some of you people that call yourselves &quot;racers&quot; and not wanting to RACE TO THE FAX!!!!!! lol

great point Tony. I'm guessing that was one huge reason for the first to fax approach. Rookie expert and new riders in classes.

    first to fax

but for any of you new experts, i'd be careful how &quot;quickly&quot; you fax that stuff in. I sat pole and front row for oak hill in a few races and it was NOT pretty.

As a novice it was childs play, experts are out for blood and i wish i could of ran with them more then once this past year!

And Ty might get bad starts, but I just get bad finishes, so i guess it evens out! haha
Heal fast Zac!! We miss you!!
