I FINALLY Have Pix From April's Cresson Race!
Almost. I have proofs ready and I have a watermark that even Joe Caruso will approve of! I am loading the unwatermarked, full resolution images as I type! I can multitask!
So, what took me so long? I'm lazy. Hallett pix will be here soon, too.
My standard disclaimer: Please remember that since I’m a racer and a CMRA staffer, I am not able to get around the track as well as a dedicated photographer can. Thus I am able to shoot only a few corners here and there over a race weekend. Additionally, I am not able to shoot all of the races, so if I got pix of you, cool. If not, I'm sorry about that. I didn't get pix of you but you want pix? Just hit me up at the races before the races start. (No PMs or FBs messages or any of that, please. You can email me, though. I can usually remember emails.) It takes a ton of time to process images people don't buy and I've got other things to do with my time, so many times I won't take any pix of anyone who has never purchased pix before. And why would I unless you ask me to? As I said, I'm not a full-time photographer. I hope you understand.
Here are the proofs: http://racer997.smugmug.com/Other-8/...6116&k=j85smRj
For those that put money in Raynie's pocket for these, I remember, so expect a link from me soon. :thumb:
In case you don't know how this image thing works, read on!
FIRST: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MY SMUGMUG SITE! I DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF ACCOUNT! If you buy anything from this SmugMug account, you will get a very awesome looking watermarked image file or print. You don't want that, do you?
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Because I've been asked several times in emails to post it here, I'm posting it here. Here's the scoop --
First, it always takes me a while to get my pix processed. I wish I could do it quicker, but I can’t. Sorry.
1 - You mean pix aren’t free? Sorry, but no. Tell me what is free these days. Cameras and kids aren't free, that's for sure. But know this - all of any money I get from selling pix goes right into the pockets of my two daughters, Raynie and Sammi. Well, some of it does. I actually pull out 2/3 to 3/4 of what they make and put it into their bank accounts for college. What is left over is their spending money. I figure this is as good a cause as any.
2 - How much do pix cost? I do not set the price - there is never a set price for the pix I take on a weekend. In the past I set (cheap) prices, but I abandoned that. Now, you simply pay what you want to pay - what you think the pix are worth to you. If I took a lot of crisp, sharp pix of you or your team during an event, then maybe reach a little deeper. If I only have an image or two of you, or the pix aren't that exciting, then go with less.
3 - How do I pay for them? Well, there are three routes for payment:
I. I like you to pay my daughter Raynie at the track directly. She works pre-registration / merchandise / tech inspection and sometimes does corner-worker check-in in the morning, and she is also the chief manual scorer. She's also a racer. She is often easy to find and rarely very far from me. Personally, I like payment made to her in person because I like her to meet the folks that are helping her and Sammi out. Raynie puts the money in her pocket (which is the same as it coming from mine) and tells me who paid her. Don't be the guy who gets a link, says he'll pay later, and then never does. I will remember.
II. Of course, if you can’t find Raynie because she’s working or something, you can always come to me. I also understand, and more than most, I think, that racers are busy and crunched for time on race day.
III. If you aren't able to pay Raynie (or me) at the track in person, no sweat - you can pay via PayPal. The email address is this email address - RacerBoy97@gmail.com. I ask that if you decide to pay this way, please choose the "friends and family" option (or whatever it's called) so I don’t get dinged any fees.
4 - How do I get the pix? It's simple. Send me a note and tell me how you want to pay. Or simply pay by PayPal. Don't worry about telling me which particular images you want because after payment, I simply send a link to you with ALL of that weekend's images in it, and you can download whatever you want. The link is provided to you on the honor system, of course; please don't share the link with anyone else, and please don't pull out images of others to give to others. That said, if you have friends, family, a team or teammates you want pix of, just keep that in mind when making payment. In other words, if you field a race team, you can take the any pix of the team’s riders and give to your teammates, but if I have a lot of pix of the team, maybe throw a couple of extra few bucks in the pot, perhaps.
5 - How do I download images? Once I have sent you a link, the images are downloadable in several sizes, including the highest resolution, which is sometimes pretty big, depending on how much the image was cropped. To download, simply hover your cursor over the image you want to download, and note the drop down menu that pops up with several size options on it. Click on the image size you want to download, and when the image appears, you can then right mouse button and "save as" to your computer. X2Large and X3Large are good sizes for email and press releases, and Original is usually quite large (depending on cropping) and will make nice wallpaper or even 8x10 prints if you wanted to print some from the file. You can also download these images as many times as you want to.
