Mini Info needed
Ok just got my rolling chassis now I need a motor, from what I have read the Cr80/85 seems to be the standard ticket, but what my questions deal with is squish, advance etc. I can set up a two stroke I have a couple of TZ250's but I don't have any expierence with the 80/85's. It seems that the only one runnning a Yam motor is Tyler, anyone set up a KX or KTM? The bike will probably be a endurance that I sprint on occasion as well.
thanks in advance!

Re: Mini Info needed
Talk to Robert Blevins about the KTM thing...
I believe he is fitting one to a RS chassis for Connor.
FWIW... run something that you'll be able to get parts for at the track...
If you're the only one with it... then you're the only one with it... har har har...

Re: Mini Info needed
No one runs the kawi motor because it is too rough. It broke frames and itself. From what I remember about Bryan Norton building his TZ/CR80, the honda motor fits into the yamaha chassis easily and the yamaha motor fits into the honda chassis easily. There is supposed to be someone in california that makes mounting kits for this purpose. Tom Hoover runs a suzuki rm motor. He says that it's down on power, but a solid runner. You may want to verify all this info from the related horses mouths.

Re: Mini Info needed
Tom USED to run a RM, but the new(this year at least) bike has a CR80.

Re: Mini Info needed
I built one of these a few years ago and I used an 03 CR-80 motor. Send the motor Tommy Crawford in Ca and he will modify the kick start assembly so it will fit, provide all the engine mounting hardware and build a custom pipe & silencer, all for around $500. I installed the Keihin PWK 28mm carb and it ran like a champ. With Dustin Meador on board it would out run anything out there in the F4 class.
This is the easy and fast way to build a competitive RS-80. I do recommend upgrading the engine mountin bolts that Tommy sends or you will end up shearing one.
