Re: It's finally gone...
Job is complete for now. The track wants to do more underground culverts soon.If and when that happens the dirt in the grassy area could be moved over towards the track. This will make the transsion in run-off from the track not as steep.(It is NOT that steep at the present time). As I was garding along the track. I was trying to build up the areas of the run-off where if someone low sided this section would be a little safer. Bare in mind NO additional dirt was hauled in. The dirt used came from what was there. I had to make due with what I had to work with. I hope it meets your expectations. Maybe someone can trip in the backgate under the turn 4 tunnel and take some pics and post here. I believe Steve Hendricks is a local there in College Station.

Tim, I would hope that no one would have expectations other than having the wall removed and the ground smoothed out, which you all already accomplished. Anyone that complains about it should be shot!

Re: It's finally gone...
Steve if the gate is open at the front office then the gate at the turn 4 tunnel should also be open. The gate back there may be pulled shut but should be unlocked. Froy is the fellows name who works the grounds at the track. Hours are 8am to 4pm. There is a drivers course program this weekend. You may want to do this today (Friday) or at the end of the day on Saturday or Sunday before they shut the track down. Good hunting.

Re: It's finally gone...
1985, Sunday some time early March CRRC practice is open early before the first race of the day. No such thing as track days, and not much to getting a license , just show up and don’t fall! First time ever for me and my 600 Ninja on this awesomely fast track, Took it easy the first couple of laps and no fear of anything not even turn 8a. Came in when they flagged us, experts turn to practice, that only lasted about ten minutes, Some ones down, red flag out and the session is over, about 30 minutes later, they let the novice group back out for the last time before the first race of the day. Some one said something about that dam turn 8a, "took another one"!! I had no idea of what that meant, But that was soon to change! Two laps into practice and I am getting passed left and right, Man I got to pick up my pace, I am gonna get killed in the race, Now way am I gonna let these guys get buy me in practice, or the race!! (Back then we exited the horse shoe right up on to turn 3 and ran the banking all the way around turn 4 and on to the front straight) Man this is fast and it takes forever it seems before you dive into turn 1. Got by a couple of riders in turn 2 and 3, up the hill into turn 4 a couple riders got by me, Pushing harder then I ever have, I got bye them going up into turn 7 and hard left into turn 8. Going faster then I ever have and pointed right at a tire wall known as 8a and I fixated and FROZE!! HARD on the front brake, in the dirt, I got lucky some how, I don’t know how, but I got side ways dirt track style and I hit the tire wall left side full force!! As I bounced off the wall and fell over to my right side hitting the ground and sliding down the hill, bike right next to me for what seemed like forever. After the dust cleared and I took mental notes to make sure all my body parts where still intact, I took a deep breath, making sure no foul odors where emanating from me, I stood up with the help of some one? I am sure a corner worker, I ran to my bike adrenaline still pumping, mad and embarrassed, I remember him saying Dam wall almost claimed another one!!! 1985 and countless riders!!! 2007 and the wall is finally gone!! Thank you from all my brothers and sisters of the CMRA, May turn 8a be only a memory from this day on!!
