Hey Emmett,
It ain't that easy. I spent 100 hrs just trying to get the EBC deal setup years ago. Unless you are very well connected, it is more than a one man job.

Emmet, Marcus,
Quit posting on this thread. It is obvious that the questions are going unanswered. I'm not sure why. Maybe because of lack of knowledge, maybe not.
We are (CMRA) what we are. I guess it could be worse.

The active membership role had somewhere over 500 members on it last year. I have not checked to see what it is up to at this point, this season. The mailing list which includes Colin, the Haydens, some old friends and associates, numbers close to 1,000.
No, all FUSA races are not co-promoted. I don't have the actaul numbers but I am confident that none, or very few are actually promoted on the basis that was proposed to the CMRA.
I appreciate Eric's input but not knowing any better, I question the assertion that FUSA races are held at venues that draw more than ours. Since FUSA holds races at Summit Point, I will try to gather this information on that track.
A well run contingency program does not require more effort that a single competent person can provide. I would rather not get into the details at tis point to support this claim but I can promise you we have done our homework. This is at the crux of the decision. Can the CMRA provide a program as good or better, for less money than is being spent today? The BOD is far along in this analitical process.
I was not as party to the decision made to leave WERA. I am not privy to the amount of research performed to support that decision. Or to the commitments that were made to administer the club absent a sanctioning body. I am now and I take full responsibility for the obligation to carefully answer these questions.
Running this organization is a big job. It is much bigger today than it was just a year ago. The BOD accepted the responsibility of directing the course of the club and overseeing its operations. So far I'd say that it is being run well. Putting together the new professional staff, organizing the operation without any help during the transition period and at the same time, providing a high level of service to the Membership, took more effort, from more dedicated people than you'd believe. Adding a layer of responsibility to administer a contingency program is a decision that requires careful planning. The ingredients that go into making that decision are well understood and they are being gathered. (Hint: "it ain't rocket science", as a person familiar with handling an extensive contingency program said to me).
The end of the season championship races that are afforded by the two national sanctioning bodies are certainly a consideration when the question of independence arises. (Note the PS that I added to my response to Marcus, above). This is an issue that is being discussed on a creative basis.
