Yes Sam, Ed was a large part of the AMA/Edmondson cat fight.
That was a power strugle between two people who just did not like each other. With that being said, I have had dealings with Roger and he always came across as Roger first,the sport second.
This is just my opinion, not stirring any pot.

If things continue to go as they are going now, I may even think about renewing my membership, which I nonrenewed after the whole Edmondson debacle in the 1990s, 15 years into being on my way to an earned life membership.

It's not in our (all motorcyclist) best interest for the AMA to implode or even to loose it's credibility. Whether we agree or strongly disagree with how things have been handled should have no bearing on our not renewing membership. Raise hell with them, throw rocks or do whatever it takes to get their attention to straighten up their act, but don't weaken them.
There's a lot more to the AMA than sanctioning races.

Holding membership from the AMA was the best way to protest, AND still letting them know how you feel.
That's what I did. I'll join again, if they continue on the same path they just started down.
