Agreed, Completely ridiculous. I only got 2 laps + one session and did not skip or was not late to any session. I pretty much wasted 80$. This has happened almost every time at TWS with the friday practice.
If I have to pay a premiums on friday because there is going to be a captive audience I should atleast get a lot of track time. I know you cannot predict crashes but there should be at least some preparedness.
To be fair, at TWS, RideSmart charges $150 and offers a 30% discount, making it $105. That is how RideSmart contributes to the CMRA. LSTD sponsors a class. It seems like Extreme loses money every time they host an event at TWS...a lot of money.Quote:

Also we can not pre register for a 1/2 day online otherwise I would consider it (that I know of I have always just paid when I showed up). It is hard to make friday practice as it is so it is usually up in the air as to whether I am going to make it. If the full day price was more in line with other trackday organizations I wouldn't hesitate to pay for a full day but as it stands I will not pay that price for a full day and it is painful to pay 80$ for a half day (yes I am a cheap bastard).
I agree with a lot that has been said. It is a pain to sit waiting for the ambulance. LSTD can't make people ride reasonably and there are people riding over their heads. And pre-registration would help. So I would like to make some suggestions. Could we have the option of signing up for a 1/2 day, morning or afternoon? Obviously, if there are enough
full day riders there might not be any 1/2 day rides available. Second, with the more recent, high 250 turnout, and the upcoming lightweight endurace classes is there a way to include
these bikes without going to 4 or 5 run groups?
How about something like a $20 discount for preregistration and only take full day preregistrants? (is that a word?) I'd be more inclined to pay $130 for a full day then $80 for a 1/2 day. The 10:00 session is usually pretty good so you'd get 2 extra sessions for only $50 more if you choose to not to ride the 8:00 and 9:00am sessions at TWS.
The recent lost time issues could be a fluke, as I do not recall this being a problem in the past.
But I don't understand how the number of track day participants decides the number of ambulances present. If you have 2 people sign up, they could theoretically max out your ambulance service. Another way to look at this is, if we paid per session instead of per day (or 1/2 day) I bet there would be two or three ambulances at each event.

Hey Steve, the other option would be to have a couple paramedics who would lend their services to LSTD, maybe for track time, to stand by in case an ambulance leaves. I just happen to know one who would do it!
You guys can always just choose to not come to friday practices. We understand how much of a hardship it is for us to ask you to attend. Taking off work, extra night of lodging etc. perhaps its just not worth it and you guys should just stick to practicing on saturday or sunday morning.
I appreciate the offer to help and provide EMS assistance but the tracks and insurance company wouldn't allow it. We will listen to some suggestions here and do our best as always. Brandt and others thanks for some positive ideas.
Dave at RS can talk to TWS staff and extend the track day for everyone because there isn't a race practice at the end of Friday, time that people have paid for.
My biggest concern this Friday (and this is my 2nd LSTD day only so maybe it's normal) was the PA system and shortest 5 minute calls ever.
- PA: Who's out there? Experts. Really? They've been out there for 30 minutes. Oh, PA is out again.
I realize that the announcements were done on FM and scanner radio but this being my first CMRA event I bought the wrong radios (CBs), so I got none of those. I also understand it's out of LSTD's control..but this tends to happen a lot at all track days, so...bullhorn? Loud speakers? This is a problem that's been solved by other orgs already.
- 5 minute calls. MANY sessions had a "5 minute call for Novice" just to be followed by "Novice, track is hot" call 2 minutes later. Maybe this is normal at Friday practice, just not normal to newbies.
