Do to a cancelled event G-Baby decided last minute to take the RC390 down to run the JenningsGP LW Endurance in the RC390 class. Before committing our resources, I checked the JenningsGP and WERA boards plus called the track to find out what rules they were going to use. Repeatedly I was told "we will run the endurance using WERA rules". Based on that and the opportunity to run the KTM for 9 race hours in one weekend, I decided to take our team down to run.
During this event the rules would change 3 times each race. (3 races, two 2 hour races Saturday and a 5 hour on Sunday. Fueling infractions I saw never went past a warning, but you were not stopped from unsafely fueling either. A truly scary red flag process that had me concerned for all riders safety. Officials and many of the Marshals were down right rude and in some cases verbally abusive. Scoring was terrible, likely costing us a position in Race 1. No lapping points were used for the 3 race series and you had to take the checker to get place points.
Post race a track official asked me what they could do to improve. I suggested a written rule book and find someone who understands how to marshal endurance and I "might" consider coming back next year.
On a positive G-Baby ran very well considering 19 hours logged to get there, showing up at 5:30am morning of the race, and Becka and Nicole having never ridden the track before. We gathered more great data with 1 hour practice and 9 hours of endurance.
So.... Thank you CMRA for being so consistent.
BTW: N2 Track Days is working on starting an 8 round east coast endurance series with races from 2 hours to 6 hours long. They are going to try and fill the void created by WERA pulling out of endurance. They seem to be a pretty knowledgable, active, and a pleasant group to hang with. They put up a lot of cash for several of the class purses at the JenningsGP
