Are we going to laminate the emergency contact cards and keep them at race control? I dont think that would violate any hippa rules, and if there is an accident it can be pulled and sent with the EMTs.
That way, worse case, the contact might be able to supply allergens etc.
Colin (and others), You may keep the current cards in your helmet if you would like. We are just removing the mandatory requirement. We will not store the med cards in control or anywhere else. The only data the club will currently maintain is each riders emergency contact information. Nothing else.
Good move, honestly.
I deal a lot with business process around validated environments, HIPAA and PII issues. In general, if you can avoid being around them completely, it's the best answer. It's really hard for small firm to meet all best practices, especially around electronic information, and it's easy to make mistakes.
