If help is ever needed or wanted in the future, I'm happy to help out as an enterprise IT architect. This is one of the many things I do for a living and I'd more than happy to help design and implement no charge.

It absolutely is wanted and welcome, just as soon as we can get to that point. In addition to Greg Phillips, David Baumgarten, Micheal DeSimmone, and perhaps a few others that we've had conversations together about this, I would love to have external input and insight. We just haven't had time to get to that point yet.
Now for a cheezy metaphor: This is an endurance race, not a sprint.
Ironic that you would ask this right now. Imagine working your way through 600+ license applications while simultaneously working in concert with Alan on the new awesome pdf forms, only to turn around and be hit will 200+ race entries in a day. That's in addition to everything else that is being handled right now. I wouldn't expect Nancy to have time to even think about answering this until after MSRH, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if she made the time.Quote:

I don't know you Greg, but the tone in some of your posts came off a little snarky, sarcastic, condescending, possibly insulting. Maybe that's why some of the guys responded the way they did. You say you want to help while making fun of the process and possibly insulting some of the people involved
You missed my point too Greg. The point I made was that these people will not run for the office when asked. Doesnt take much and I know some great folks who refuse to serve any more because of the constant whining and complaining about the small stuff.
Luckily we have a few folks that right now who have thick skins and regect it.
I essentially get yelled at for a living. This is nothing
SO ITS OK IF I TYPE EVERYTHING TO YOU LIKE THIS FROM NOW ON ? :astrosmiley:
i like turtles
Please show me where I said you did?
They have everything to do with anything CMRA. The million dollar question is why? <---That's rhetorical. Well kinda. I am very aware of the fact that this issue has been discussed at insane lengths and in no way am I'm under no delusion that this question will be truthfully answered in my lifetime.
I guess our example of prime leadership examples differ. Are there good examples on the BoD? Absolutely. Are there bad? Yup. Just like a V8 hitting on 6 cylinders is more than capable of moving you down the road. Doesn't mean it's efficient or that all cylinders are contributing. Some are causing a negative efficiency. And don't ever underestimate someone who is motivated to impose their agenda. ESPECIALLY for monetary gain. Not to mention those who have the driving desire to have influence and power. It's amazing what people will do to fulfill these deep seeded issues.
Some of them. Sure. I'll agree to that. Same as that V8 being pulled down the road by all 6 cylinders.
Perception of a promise? Really?
I can't address Ted's(or anybody else) emails, texts, calls, etc. I have no knowledge of them. What I can address is what percentage of the membership actually vote. Some say that the fact more members don't vote is a shame. Personally, if I don't see a worthy candidate I don't vote. Unfortunately when there is a candidate who was nominated by the inner circle and supported by those who stand to gain from his election and is self serving the members only have two choices. One would be to simply not vote. This assures that his inner circle will be enough to put him in the majority. So the second option would be to block vote. Usually this effort does not work and is a wasted vote. Either way the outcome is the same. Your point about majority vote is absurdly invalid.
No hostility here. It amazes me how anyone who has a different opinion is automatically hostile. The way I see this thread is that Greg, generously offered help that would undoubtedly help streamline the registration process by bringing it up to at least somewhat current capability. His offer was met with EXTREME hostility.
Every Bod is given the option to decline their nomination. You can't have it both ways. You can not accept the position and then provide excuses as o why things can't be done. Especially if that was the platform you ran on. No one is forced to serve. And while I am grateful for those who do try to better the club, I am aware that this is an obligation they chose to take on. No pity from me.
As a business owner, I know that excuses do not get things done. New technology, while it might take some time to implement and become accustom to, will almost always streamline processes and, if designed and used correctly, make my life much easier.
Not sure telling the truth is the way to be "Making Friends". My dignity is still in check though.
I completely disagree. It's the few that are not scared to stick their heads up and risk the inevitable hammer that is ever so ready to pound them back into submission. The way I see it is, it's the silent majority that agrees.
Ask me sometime. (seriously! MSRH?) I don't mind sharing with you my perspective on it at all. And, I'll be really candid.
I'm a total outsider to the question. I don't have and association with LSTD (I teach for RideSmart, actually), and I was elected to the BoD just a bit over a year ago by a mere plurality -- the lowest vote-getter to make the cut, in fact.
My answer might not satisfy you, but it will be the honest truth.
Well that escalated quickly!
I think everyone was offended in some way here.
I find Jim to be brutally honest, most of the time.
Mitch, did you get Brian a tinfoil hat? I think he needs one :D
Yes. Can you show me where he (or any of the candidates) promised to change policy or enact a system before they were voted in?
Now, is Ted an asset with technological systems? Absolutely. Does his real job and expertise contribute to skills that the CMRA can exploit? I'm sure. All of the candidates do and all of them were elected for those reasons.
I'm baffled by this logic so it must be over my head?Quote:

I could go with that theory. I'm sure it's real.
So these theoretical numbers that show that 3 candidates received (almost the same number) more votes than any of the other candidates (a significant difference in number of votes) isn't a majority? I'd sooner buy the Illuminati Exposed version of your theory than the latter.
I didn't accuse anyone in particular of any hostility. But if you feel that it was, well, I can't control your thoughts (or maybe I can…). As far as Greg meeting hostility? I know Greg. I like Greg, a lot in fact. He's a stand up dude and fun to be around. I doubt he's seeing it the same way you are, but I guess perception is reality.Quote:

You're right on the last point but not in the way you think you are. See, the "silent majority" is the group of folks that don't ever log on to message boards like this and the countless others who race or are club members. The folks that may cruise the message board here for real information and laugh at these threads but never post. While the internet message board "communities" may see all kinds of traffic and post counts when something like this comes up for instance, it ends up being the same 5 people who are participating. For those 5 people, there are another few hundred that don't even look this way or care about it. But they do know the folks they're voting for and the issues at hand because they race with them and are friends with them. Your "silent majority" is actually the "vocal minority".Quote:

Can we please get back to yelling at me. This is turning unproductive...
Brian,
I'm curious to know in person what questions you may have that need to be answered. I will be available at MSRH to speak with you, please look me up.
Get to work ted.now!
HEY BACK TO YELLING AT TED, THIS GOT DERAILED (testing if I can still yell at you haha)
Tom , I wont be riding at msrh so save me a plate of some food and ill swing by
NO PROBLEM GREG! HAPPY TO SEE YOU THERE!
(still works)
SORRY IF I MISREAD YOUR POSTS GREG! LIKE I SAID, I DONT KNWO YOU!!! :p
I love you guys
I had an epiphany during my 5 minute lunch break that could solve the collaboration roadblock. Please allow me the weekend to get everything in place, and then the brave volunteers that have expressed interest will get a PM and/or email from me with further details.
Thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread for forcing me to find 5 minutes to think about this critically and clearly. And I love the passion expressed, in all forms.
You get a 5 minute lunch break? Slacker.
Rebuilding these motard motors is no fun
Hey we are picking on the wrong Phillips here, it should be Ted not Greg
Promised? Prove it. I never make promises. Promises are for the movies and placating. I only say what I intend to do. I dug up the emails from last April and this is how it went:

This thread has been highly entertaining to say the least. One thing is for sure, at least everyone has passion for their beliefs.
IT is like the mafia: there is no getting out.
You guys aren't going to break up...... are you?
I didn't even have time to post it...
TEEEDDDDDD!!!!
Feel better now? And I'm offended because no one personally offended me. Dangit! Good work, energy and passion all around, for sure.
I liked technology on the first page. Then, by page three or four, i didn't like it so much. And by the time that i got to page ten, I was really beginning to wonder
Hey look I'm back from the dead
3 years later
Imagine how much less cash someone would have had to been accountable for if some of the CMRA transactions could've been made online over the last 3 years. Members could pay entry fees, gate fees, buy merchandise etc. Whatever it would have cost 3 years ago ($5k, $10k, $15k?) would have been worth every penny than to have folks dragged through the streets over accusations of skimming cash. Sure, there would still be cash to handle but not as much. Just the risks of handling that much cash, driving across Texas with it, getting it to the bank, etc is worth the investment.
If it took an increase in fees to pay for this I'd think membership would have been less combative than they've been over an increase citing insurance and rental fees.
But after all, it's only club racing and not really that important in the grand scheme of things. :thumb:
