What's your number mean?

745 because its the first three digits of my phone number so i knew i couldn't forget it! but when it came to putting the numbers on my helmet of course I put them on wrong and made 754 so i had to use a black sharpie to fix before the first race.
120 will be the atomic number of 120 Unbinilium, an element yet to be discovered. I anticipate that Unbinilium will be very important to me.
I chose 33 for Leather & Lace because 3's look like boobs! (made ya concentrate that three, huh..)
I opted for 152 because Gavin is 151 and it seems I will be following him for a while..:hail:...

Started racing in 1986...my birthday was 914, but that was taken already. So being born in September, I chose 9, and turning 30 in 1986, I chose 930. Ran that for a couple of years , until I finished 3rd at the WERA Grand Nationals in the very early '90s. I ran 3 for over 10 years until they started the 1-10 as you finished in sprints . I picked 30 because I turned 30 the year I started Roadracing in 1986.
I love Allen's Iron Butt # I used to race with Jesse's Dad, (another cool #)
449 was my novice number. I didn't want to spend money on new numbers so I just took off the 4....some things never change I guess ;)
My first number was 127, which is my wedding anniversary (Dec 7th) but the evil Ron Mears STOLE it from me during a time of registration laziness. I picked 271 because I could use the same numbers that I already had laying around. I never liked the way 271 looked so I took 429, which is my birthday. I'll keep that until Ron retires....which may be a while. I call dibs though! We run 29 on the endurance bike because it'll be easy to add a temp "4" if/when I decided to do any sprints.
Nancy gave it to me. "272" was symmetric and available.
My favorite #'s have always been 12 & 34.
34 was my high school football # and when I started racing in 95, wanted it as it was well represented well by Mr. Schwantz. It wasn't available of course, so I went with 834.
When I turned expert I looked for any two digit number, only a couple were available. 46 was a good fit because it was the sum of 12 and 34.
I think some other dude by the name of Rossi also had it but back then I wasn't following the 125 or 250 class and just barely starting to follow the motogp 500 class.
The rest is History.:bannana:
I started racing with CCS #27 because I wanted a low # and something with a 7. With CMRA I just added a 1, so laziness is really what is behind my #.
858 is a SoCal area code for the place where I met my wife and for our first home phone together.
My number plate most days!
Some interesting responses. My birthday is in October and I've always been #10 in hockey and other sports. I knew 110 would be available because the person using it before me was changing to his preferred number the same year I got my license. Plus the 1's being thin make things easier sometimes.
I originally wanted 210 for my area code but then decided I would run 204 in honor of Scott Zampach one of my favorite racers on an 86 gsxr750. Not only was the number available but didn't really see where anybody has run it. Correct me if I'm wrong because I would be interested in knowing who else has run 204 besides me in the CMRA.
I didn't pick 242. 242 picked me.
Lol jk. I wanted the number 42 cause it's the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. But can't have a 2 digit number until expert. So I picked 242 because it had 42 in it and cause I like the band Front 242.
My first 3 choices were 512, 420, 187.
512 because I live in Austin, and the others just because of pop culture.
Unfotunately there was a race weekend a couple days after my app was submitted, so the numbers were taken.
My second three were 969, 696, 599. The first Two just because of the flip-flop numbers, 599 for the cc's of my bike.
599 was the only one available.
when I was in cali, I had 357, for my favorite caliber gun. However, I've noticed people tend to squat on that number, especially here, so I settled for 457 here, because it's a bigger caliber ;).
Should have gone with 88...

Post Vietnam (I was never in country) I got an honorable USAF 13 month early out discharge to separate on a Friday the 13th, I think about having the Air Force move the date from the 13th, but figured if they are letting me go it's gotta be a great day. Lots of great 13's in my life. My first grand baby Brooklyn (the "G-Baby" btw) was born on April 13. Everyone at the hospital was hoping for the 12th. But I knew better. (sorry Kristen I know it was rough going the extra distance) So my sprint number is 413. The G-Baby Racing Endurance team is 13. G-Baby Racing won a national championship on the 13th race weekend in the year in 2013. I've never bought a lottery ticket.
Oh yeah I forgot I always go for row 13 on the airplane
Mine, 81, was more an evolution than a choice, plus me being cheap. My first racer was from a pocket bike group and the bike came with 48, a number still used by the seller. I just peeled them off and stuck them back on as 84 - nice and cheap. I then came to CMRA and added a 1 for 841, both cheap, and easy to change back and forth between Endurance, where I left it 84, and Sprints, which I did both of for about 7 years. Then I 'won' a 2 digit number at the Banquet and staying cheap, just threw every combo of those 3 digits I already had a bunch of stickers for at Nancy and let her assign me one. End up losing the middle digit and making 841 into 81. Worked out well, as that was also my graduation year. 81 it is.
These all need a like button!
When I was given the list of available numbers by Allen I was unsure of what number I really wanted.. but 520 stuck out like a sore thumb. So I picked. Later my wife reminded me it was also a good verse from Corinthians in the bible.. Cor: 5:20 "We are Christ's Ambassadors" Yeah I think it's perfect.
Oldest daughter's birthday. (Oh, yeah, and it was available - key point.)
#914
The number 81 was one of our Hall of Fame members Laroy Montgomery. My best friend , and the one who got me into road racing! Great number Roger !!!! :thumb:
I think my first number was the number that was already on my bike when I bought it. Bought it up north and then moved down so it wasn't in use in CMRA... I think maybe it was 488 or something. When that bike... went away, and I got a new (to me) FZR400 and was going to splurge on numbers anyway, and I was going expert, I went for 87 for my class year at Texas A&M (Whoop!). Quit sprinting and now I just keep some x87 (currently 387) for the sport of it and to leave the 2 digit stuff for people who are actually sprinting. If I ever get to sprint again, I'm going to put a small 3 in front of the 87 and incur the wrath of Linz. It'll be worth it. :-)
Not very interesting but the reason I chose #998 is because it is the displacement of my race bike. :burnout: ZX10r
#99
I've got 99 problems and a ***** ain't one.
527. I had raced jetskis and waverunners from 8-13 years old when I had a bad crash. My race number was 27, baseball, football, basketball...27.
527 bc I can't have a two digit number, and I had a motorcycle for 5 years before I started racing.
at first i wanted 409 (already taken when i applied for my numbers) because "409" was the name of my very first horse I started riding when i did equestrian riding--my first "horsepower".
my current 814 is a bit more complicated. one of my favorite verses 1 Corinthians 16:14. "Let all that you do be done in love." it was quite difficult to figure out how to make those into 3 digits. so i just combined 1+1+6, 14 to get 814. chose to stick with it b/c it grew on me and i also didn't want people to confuse my reason for 409 with the cleaner :|
Mine is my birthday. July 13. 7/13 nothing special and no it's not because the Houston area code like some think.
After a hiatus of several years, I came back to roadracing. Connie gave me 911 because she said I was an accident waiting to happen. After another hiatus, I lost that number and accepted whatever number was available.
my hometown area code "408"
I'm still waiting on the "420's" peoples reason.
Wait....
What?
Just curious that's all.
My number is in between a few friends numbers. Nothing with any meaning t me was available.
528 - It's the months my daughters were born in order from oldest to youngest. May, February, and August. My wife actually came up with it because all the insignificant numbers I wanted were taken.
Always ran 76 racing MX. Its the year i was born. Got my CMRA license in 2009 . I had 3 kids at the time so I chose 376....
When I started racing with WMRRA (Washington) in 2004, they assigned me 954 as a novice. The next year I was a graduated novice and had to pick another number (900 series were reserved for novices), so I picked 854 because I could change the 9 to an 8 with a piece of electrical tape. My favorite number and birthday is the 5th, so I liked having the 5 in the middle. When I became an expert, I went with 154 because I liked the way it looked. I've also used 154 in shifter kart and autocross racing.
I run 704 because I'm a Veteran and its the numeric for Independence Day and my actual number in all sports growing up was 11. Obviously 11 would be pretty hard to get and I would look to have it for a different reason than why I really chose it. (No knock on who has it or the man who immortalized it). But, if you add 7+0+4=11. Cool!
Total cc's of my fire breathing SV:)
Connie Brothers:) She picked the numbers for Craig, myself, and your beloved John; 49, 50, and 51. As a poor high school kid who would haul his bike to the track in a crappy $500 pick up that could only manage 55mph and would burn a quart of oil for every tank of gas, corner work on saturday for entry fee on sunday, and live on one freebird monster burrito, it meant the world that she looked after me!
She would call me before the races to make sure I was coming, she would sponsor me for extra races, and would introduce me to people that could help me develop my skills. Without her I wouldn't have accomplished anything in racing.
So, I run that number as a reminder that what's behind the number is not the rider, but the loving sacrifices of friends that put you there.

CMRA EX#50
These are way more interesting than my reason...when I started racing with CCS in '03, a buddy of mine in town who was racing as well had already chosen #57. Since we would be traveling together, I figured it would be best for us to have the same set of numbers if we needed them at the track, so I chose #75. It kind of stuck with me after that, and I've always kinda liked it.
After the 6 year break from racing, coming back and joining CMRA, I ran 375 as a novice, then I got lucky and 75 became available when I moved to expert, and I was able to get it. We also run 75 in endurance, for ease of keeping a backup bikes and number changes.
If the number 410 ever became available, we'd no doubt be moving Becka's bike back to that number.

This was the first plane I flew on as a young Flight Mechanic in the Marine Corps.
185, because Sean Brown got me into this whole racing thing and he's 184, thought i'd be neat to see 184 then 185 pitted next to each other. Now i'm kinda regretting it, I seem to have acquired more junk, er, I mean "spare parts" than I could have imagined. And they aren't even mine, lol.
709, because i did my first trackday in july 2009.
I picked 927 because that was my little boys birthday.
