As far as epoxy goes, I did my own epoxy job on my garage floor when I bought my house over the summer. I like it. It's a little thin since the kit was for 400 sqft and my garage is about 430. I erred on the side of caution and finished with probably 10% still left over. Oh well. If I'm doing something obviously damaging like dragging my drill press, it'll scratch. Otherwise it's been great. Easy to sweep and easy to mop.
I'd say the main advantage of epoxy is getting it to be a uniform color. If you drop something small, it's pretty easy to see. In my old concrete garage, finding old gray-brown bolts on my splotchy gray-brown garage floor was an exercise in futility.
Here's the updated design concept:

I did this in "paint" and sent it to the architect to make it official.
- Multiple Dimmable LEDs all throughout
- LOTS of outlets, counter height.
- Recessed area for Lift Table
- Removal of 4" Car Stop... full flat floor
Handy still makes lifts, someone picked up the line I believe.
Looks like it will be great. What about speaker system? recessed speakers?
