Man my neck is sunburned !!!!!
Thanks to everyone that came out and helped. It was nice to be a part of the removal and it was a beautiful day for outside labor.
Cecil, I don't think the car guys have anything to worry about. There is plenty of run off before you get to the fence and old access road along with plenty of tires to keep anyone from getting in the way of cars or bikes entering into turn 4. I think that is what you meant by saying turn 3?

judging from the photos wont that bulldozer sitting there be just as dangerouse as the old wall?
Just fooling with you guys... good job to everyone involved... this should shave about 2-3 seconds off everyones lap times!

Sorry for the late post, but I'd like to thank everyone that was involved in yesterday's progress.
First of all, I'd like to thank the late Mr. Dick Conole at TWS. Before he passed away in January, he agreed to the changes you see now. Since January, Rusty Rush and Froy at TWS have worked around the bad weather and installed over 150' of 24" culvert so a 6' ditch could be covered, and removed 40' of concrete wall on the super speedway, both in an effort to provide the runoff that was needed.
Steve McNamara and Dave Wonders were instrumental with their technical input and helping move the project forward with TWS management. CMRA member Tim Johnson stepped up at the right time with the right equipment, and used his knowledge and experience in grading and drainage (and racing) to create a runoff area that will be infinitely safer for bike and car racing while getting what can be a large amount of water off a large hill without causing more drainage problems.
Tim recommended CMRA member Don Meador, who provided the crane along with his employee Shane Breaux. They took turns operating the crane and getting dirty with everyone else pulling the guardrail apart. The crane was an amazing piece of equipment, and there's no way everything would have gotten done in one day without it!
Bob and Sherrie Young showed up with a Bobcat (BOBcat, get it?), which turned out to be perfect. After each segment of guardrail was pulled out of the ground, Bob would pick it up with the Bobcat and carry it away, making more room for Tim to keep grading. He also used it to move up to 12 tires at a time, six on each blade.
Speaking of tires, it was estimated that we moved around 1,500 tires (some more than once, as Ronnie mentioned). Every person there helped move tires at some point or another, including Greg Abbott, still on a crutch with an orthopedic boot, and his son A.J. The rest of the work crew, in no particular order, included Race Director Walter Walker and his son Tray, Ronnie Lunsford and Corky, Don Wagnon, Dirk Anderson, Dexter Fryar, Steve McNamara's nephew Luke Owen, Mike Nellis, Jason Keene, and a couple of guys that I can't remember their names.
Thanks again to everyone that had a part in this project. The LONG course is the REAL course at TWS, and these improvements will make a better experience for everyone.
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone that helped. I can't remember the last time I couldn't take off work for anything track related but I had a work commitment that could not be rescheduled. By removing the wall I sincerely believe you guys and track owners/management have prolonged someones roadracing career and/or hobby. Thanks again.
