Im selling out!

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell out of racing for an undetermand amount of time. My wife and I both work in the airline industry and she has been laidoff for 18 months and now my job is looking bleak. Any who, priorities have tobe set.

My family and I had a great time this year getting to know new people and places. I cant think of a better way to spend my spring, summer and fall, than racing with you folks.

Brent Smith thanks for the endurance ride, sorry I probly hurt the effort more than I helped. Count me in for pit help next year.

Most of all Id like to thank my wife for standing by me this season. Like I wrote up top she has been laidoff for 18 months. Not many wives would let there husband go racing under those conditions. I wish I'd known, I'm in the business too, as is my wife who was just recalled off a 4 1/2 year furlough. We could have traded horror stories (about the business, not the flying).

I'm downsizing this year for the same reason. Hopefully things will turn around and we'll have a more union-friendly administration shortly.

The killer SV guy in the club-Jason Pirtle- who has worked most of his adult life for Delta, has been given 2 choices-no job or move to Atlanta- forget your home you own and by the way take a pay cut and pay state income tax! Sometimes life just sucks.

American Airlines spent 345 million more on fuel last quarter, and posted a lose of 215 million. Yet other airlines are allowed to roll in and out of bankruptcy, not paying there bills and setting the ticket prices so low that everybody is loosing. Shew! sorry about that.

You probably weren't worrying when my industry, the oil business, lost 80% of its people, and when you filled your SUV up, a gallon of gas cost 87 cents, and the hwy tax was over 1/2 of that. GThat was back in 98'. And I am a small indepenent. My company has spent over 1/2 MM dollars this year drilling wells and we have almost nothing to show for it.

Things can be tough all over. We choose our careers, and have to live with the consequences and the conditions beyond our control. The big oil companies aren't controlling the price of oil. But if it makes you feel better to demonize someone, than you aren't any better than those, like Bush, you are criticizing.
