2010-2011 Election Results
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who stepped up to run for the Board of Directors. It is a (mostly thankless) volunteer position that requires a lot of personal time and sacrifice by those who take on the job. Congratulations to those who won and thanks again to those who ran.
The ballots have been counted and recounted and the results are in:
1. Bill Syfan - 102
2. Norm McDonald - 96
3. Steve McNamara - 94
4. Tony Ta - 94
5. Eric Falt - 86
6. Harry Tomlinson - 73
7. Dirk Anderson - 47
8. Dewayne Davis - 40
9. Danny Clark - 38
10. Jeff Phillips - 36
11. Allan Campbell -31
12. Dan Blankenship - 10
13. Mitch McGinnis - 8
Bill is new to the Board for 2011 and Norm has been re-elected to another term. Bill and Norm will be joining our current Board members: Christopher Corder, Ronnie Hay, Ty Howard and John Orchard. Barry Nichols will be leaving the Board at the end of 2010 and we would like to thank him for his commitment and devotion to the betterment of the CMRA. He is a valuable asset to the club in many areas and especially in his service on the Board of Directors. Thanks, Barry!
As you can see, there was a tie for the 3rd Board seat, therefore per the By-laws (section 7.6), "In the case of a tie, there shall be a runoff election held in the manner of the election of Board members with ballots being mailed within ten (10) days and counted on the business day next following twenty (20) days after mailing."
The runoff ballots will be mailed on Saturday, November 6th. In order to be counted, they need to be received on or before November 29th.

Re: 2010-2011 Election Results
Also wanted to mention that we received a total of 263 ballots. Of the 263, 3 were not counted because they had no name or signature, and 1 was not counted because it came from someone who was not a CMRA member.
So the total number of eligible ballots this year was 259!
I wasn't here last year during the election, so I'm not sure how many ballots were received in 2009. But 259 is double what we received in all the previous years that I've been here.
Thanks very much to those who took the time to vote for the folks who will be guiding the CMRA in 2011!

Congratulations to the winners. And thank you to all that took the time to vote and those that were willing to take the time to be a part of guiding the club.

Thank you Walter, that means about 43% voted. Better than the historically 14%, members should be more engaged though, IMO.

Agreed. But then again, only 29% of Americans voted last Tuesday in the Mid-Term Elections.

Congrats to Bill and Norm and... Steve or Tony. Thanks to everyone who was willing to serve! And very good to hear the good turnout. No good deed shall go unpunished, so now we have to vote again, huh? LOL. I guess something to keep us tuned into the m-board during the off-season.

Years ago a certain "Moto-......." shop sponsored pit bike races where the participants would stop each lap to consume a tasty beverage on their way to a somewhat wobbly finish. Now that was a runoff!
Whose with me!

Re: 2010-2011 Election Results
In defense of voting "apathy"...
In the real world people often don't vote because they look at the candidates and go, "It doesn't matter, they all suck."
We have the opposite problem. You look at the candidates and go, "It doesn't matter, they're all good." Been a couple of exceptions over the years, but the vast majority of people running for the board are obviously competent, serious people with the best interests of the club as their priority. A good situation to be in, and I'm very grateful to the people past and present who have been willing to take on the task.
THANK YOU!!

Re: 2010-2011 Election Results
I am a little confused here and would repectfully like an expalnation or clarafication of the results.
There is a tie for third place and no one listed in fourth place, here is my questions.
1- does the listed numbers from 1 to the bottom mean the top one thru the end is in order of votes recived?
2- in the case of a tie at the top wouldnt that mean they still recived more votes than the last place person?
3- so does the winner of the tie go to third and the loser goe to fourth place?,is that why there is no one listed in fourth place as it wouldnt make sence to displace the loser of a tie unless the tie was for last place,or there is a misunderstanding of the rules.
also is there permanet members here? as it seems the othere board members were not among the people voted for but remain members for 2011.

1. Yes, #1 got the most votes and the person at the bottom of the list got the least votes.
2. Yes, both persons who tied got the same amount of votes which was more than the last place person.
3. For the run-off, whomever gains the most votes will be in third. Fourth doesn't matter because there's only 3 seats on the BOD. After the top three, it doesn't matter how many votes you get/ got.

Re: 2010-2011 Election Results
I understand now there are three postions available in odd years and four in even years, not all board members are replaced in the same year and this makes sence for continuity. Thanks for your explanation!
