Praying every day! Please get well !
I wonder how many racers Mr. Gremmels has helped over the years? He has put so much into our club - so generous with his time and resources. Mr. Gremmels is a great racer, CMRA Hall of Famer and a true class act. When I first started racing, he helped me with resources and with track knowledge. Get well soon Mr. Gremmels. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Praying for you Brooks. So thankful for all you've done for the CMRA and what a great demeanor you bring to everything you do. Be strong!
Just heard Brooks is out of ICU and in rehab now.
Great News!!!

Terribly sad news for all who knew and loved our dear friend, Brooks Gremmels....Brooks passed away last evening @ 9:00 p.m.
For those who did not have the privilege of knowing Brooks, he loved the CMRA with all of his heart and generously supported the club always. He will truly be missed by many.

One of the best guys I ever butted heads with, THANK YOU BROOKS!
Brooks touched my life in many ways.
He always had a way of finding the bright side of things.
His wisdom his generosity and his friendship will truly be missed.
Heaven is a better place today.
Godspeed old friend..........
RIP
RIP. sad sad news :(
My heart is broken. Thank you Brooks. Thank you for everything.
Very sad to hear of this. As Walter mentioned in the previous post, Heaven is a better place now.
My prayers go out to all the friends and family.
Brooks once tossed me the keys to his Ford GT, said..."go have fun kid". Didn't take that opportunity but hope to have a ride along if I make it...."have fun kid!" Godspeed!

FYI, the memorial party and celebration in Ben Wheeler is going to be held Sunday, February 9th instead of the 16th. The party begins around noon. There will be local bands and it would be awesome to have as many bikes as possible show up. Maybe someone could organize a group ride from Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc.
Nancy,
For the members that cannot attend Ben Wheeler, it would be great if we could do a little something to memorialize at the first race as well.
This is a pretty awesome tribute:

Thanks for posting this Craig. Very touching broadcast.....Godspeed Brooks.
My heartfelt condolences to Brooks' friends and the CMRA family.
-Bob Dickey, former CRRC/CMRA racer
RIP Brooks
FYI the Roadracing world article says the date was moved to the 19th, not the 9th.
The party is the 9th the 19 was a miss print.
Oh my...... I am finding it difficult to find words. When the word broke of his cancer, of the most devious kind, it was so sad. To see a man that was so full of energy, generous, fun loving, smart and even smarter for teaching the rest of us how to be smart...... got the short end of the stick - really doesn't seem right. Sad to see you go, but blessed for the time you were with us!
The CMRA lost a great Champion.
Race In Peace
Rest in Peace and my condolences to family and friends.
Brooks was a GREAT man, that anybody who had a chance to call Friend, was rewarded!!!! Prayers for Rese !
Brooks was a guy that inspired others to be selfless and generous with what one has. In the late '90's early 2000's anyone in the L/W classes in the CMRA had some great battles with Brooks. (I know I did). Brooks was the type of guy that was real fun to be around at the track because he was having so much fun racing. Around the year 2000 Brooks found out that I had never been to a pro motorcycle road race, and the next thing I knew I was flying to WSBK at Laguna on some of Brooks's airline miles. I observed Brooks donate over 34k to the RRW air fence fund and thought, hey, I can donate some to that good cause too. Just a few small examples of the high quality type of guy Brooks was. http://obituaries.tylerpaper.com/obi...&pid=169386949
I have lots of fond memories of Brooks. He was an eclectic formula of grass roots everyman, successful and savvy businessman, and McQueen-like coolness. He once told me that, regardless of what he had become or achieved in life, he was still a hippie rock music promoter on the inside. Although I first met him some years before, I proudly served my first term on the CMRA Board of Directors along side of him in 2003, and being that Brooks was a guy that had, on several occasions, built big things from little things (or from nothing at all), I always looked to him for sound, sage advice. Yet oddly to me, since I was around the CRRC/CMRA before he was, he would, it seems, just as often ask me for historic information and my perspective on things. How does a man get to be a success like Brooks was? By being human and being more interested in you than in trying to get you interested in him. Godspeed, Brooks. Maybe I'll get a chance to ride, shoot guns, drink a Red Stripe, and bench race with you again someday.
So true Linz. You nailed it. Was trying to figure out what was unique about Brooks and that was it. I met him when Jr. Motard was starting out and he seemed to be very involved in that. I didn't know anything about him away from the track, that he was such a big shot entrepreneur and all. But every time I saw him, he wanted to know how my sin Thomas was doing and how the Jr. Motard thing was working and if there could be any changes to improve it. Most guys who are that successful become extremely self confident, usually to a fault where they don't "need" any help or feedback from others. But not Brooks. He will truly be missed.
Thanks, Linz, for the words I couldn't find.
When I first started helping Nancy in registration Brooks was one of two directors (Norm being the other) who always made it a point to 'make the rounds' of staff at each event to say "Hi ... thanks ... anything we can do to help?..."
One of the most genuine and sincerely caring 'people persons' I've been lucky to know in my life.
There was a time during my BOD days that I was low and could not get any more down about things. Brooks pulled me aside and gave me some very lasting words of encouragement. They have stuck with me since that day and have been applicable outside of the intended context. Even though he may not have known me, nor agreed with me, he was still there when most needed. He had nothing to gain, but that did not matter to him. I will never forget that.
For good or bad, I wouldn't be the CMRA Administrator today without Brooks and Norm pestering the crap out of me in 2002 to leave Formula USA/CCS to run the club.
They
Were
Relentless
Thanks guys!
All the pestering was Damn well worth it . Thanks for giving in.
