I propose that the last event at TWS next March be a 24 (or 12, as long as racing at night is part of it) hour endurance race with LeMans start. A race that requires racing during the dark, like a Suzuka style 8 hour would be cool too.
Let's give the place a badass CMRA send off!
How much will lighting the track cost? Maybe just line it with LED strips a la Tron

By the way, I already discussed this with the Syfans in registration at Cresson and they approved (as a matter of fact, I was trying to light the track too and Bill corrected me...), so as far as I'm concerned, we can bypass Walter and the rest of the BoD and make this happen!!!!

FYI for a 24 hour event all motorcycles will be required to have both headlights and a working taillight. Lighting around the course would be minimal. Likely only the corners and pit road would be lit. I would love to see it happen but a 24 hour race is a big commitment for both teams and organizers. That being said let's make it happen.
I am up for riding plus contributing to help light a bike. This would be epic and a good way to say good bye to a historical track.

Ide love to do it.. but i say we keep it at 12..start around lunch end just after midnight. Im all for the 24 hour but at the same time it might eliminate some teams... 24 hour edurance fee's around $1200... 7~12 rear tires and 3~5 fronts....95~120 gallons of gas. I know alot of people do it different but my guess is around $5K for a 24 hour. Ide also want an additional rider for the 24. If we keep it at 12 we can keep same rules and everyone can still party on after the race.
Are we positive they are actually closing or is everyone basing this on the fact that they have no events posted past june 2015, could it be possible they have not updated their schedule that far in advance?

I think it's early enough that if we can get a blessing from the club, we can find some supporters of the race and perhaps defray some costs. I think that if everyone that wants to race can do a few simple things like, petition supporters and investors, volunteer some corner workers, etc, that we will make it affordable.Quote:

I'm not kidding with this and I have had very, very enthusiastic response from club members, BoD members, and most importantly club administrators. Much like other "bucket list" type items, this won't be cheap; but that's not why anyone would do something like this. You do it for the life-long memories it will create. The best part about this is, it's completely within our reach in our own back yard, at a familiar location! Not everyone will get the chance to be Craig Montgomery or the Cretu's and hit the Isle of Mann, but this, this is within all of our reach!
