Interesting. What info is used to determine who gets bumped to expert? I was under the impression that we had to request it.
Mike,
Nearly everyone the request to move to expert will be granted the promotion, there are exceptions of course.
However there are racers that get promoted without request to keep the "cherry picking" down.
The Race director submits a racer index of points, finishes etc and submits it to the advancement committee. The committee reviews the data, discusses and primarily votes on racers deemed qualified for advancement and you were on that list.
If you feel the committe has made an error you can appeal the decision.
Let me know if i can help in any way

I can be reached at 405-210-0398 and yes I am on the advancement committe.
Yes! Great Job Everyone! Congrats! ! !
Congratulations new white plates.
When reviewing the standings and making my recommendations I did see a couple of blisteringly fast novice that only raced NOLA and 2 MSRH rounds.
I would like to see the riders at most of the cmra tracks and not just "track" specialists, its a more informed way of judging overall performance.
If a racer is "sandbagging" or way to fast there are mechanisms for them to be moved mid season also.
Mike, something I look at when thinking whether someone should be expert is their overall race craft, not just speed. You can have some people who aren’t the fastest novice, yet very good racers - solid lines, smart moves, etc. They can be an expert.
On the flip side, you could have someone who’s crazy fast and wildly out of control and has more to learn about racing - IMO, that’s someone who’s not yet an expert.
Simply put, being an expert racer isn’t all about speed. At least to me.
I agree with Jeremy. Unfortunately, the quality of their craft is, in my opinion, misjudged by the racer themselves and not observed at all by anyone that can make the judgement. Unless poor riding/craft causes repeated crashes or is reported by several people, it’s not considered. I don’t have a solution, and I think it generally works itself out. Just one person’s opinion on an aspect of this.
I also agree with Jeremy. I actually believed i could use another year as novice to tune my racecraft. My pace isnt too terrible but my confidence on big bikes could be better. i have made mistakes in practice that probably pissed off a couple of expert people. Brandy Cox in particular i should have found in the pits to apologize to. i still have a lot to learn just to be a predictable racer. im not gonna complain about being promoted but it wasnt something i had planned. Hayden Tinsley, Tyson Grigor, and maybe Ben Hunter? were fast enough to be competitive in expert if not on the podium at the tracks they ran at. yet i dont see their names on the list because of some algorithm. I only say this for the sake of conversation and insight. im not really complaining. Im 42 yrs old. I race for fun.
Mike, as i stated earlier if you feel we made an error and you yourself feel your not ready then appeal the decision.
If you need help with the process call me and I'll help.
