Im selling out!

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell out of racing for an undetermand amount of time. My wife and I both work in the airline industry and she has been laidoff for 18 months and now my job is looking bleak. Any who, priorities have tobe set.

My family and I had a great time this year getting to know new people and places. I cant think of a better way to spend my spring, summer and fall, than racing with you folks.

The killer SV guy in the club-Jason Pirtle- who has worked most of his adult life for Delta, has been given 2 choices-no job or move to Atlanta- forget your home you own and by the way take a pay cut and pay state income tax! Sometimes life just sucks.

You probably weren't worrying when my industry, the oil business, lost 80% of its people, and when you filled your SUV up, a gallon of gas cost 87 cents, and the hwy tax was over 1/2 of that. GThat was back in 98'. And I am a small indepenent. My company has spent over 1/2 MM dollars this year drilling wells and we have almost nothing to show for it.

Things can be tough all over. We choose our careers, and have to live with the consequences and the conditions beyond our control. The big oil companies aren't controlling the price of oil. But if it makes you feel better to demonize someone, than you aren't any better than those, like Bush, you are criticizing.

Well here is one from the IT sector:

IT SUCKS!!!!!!

It really sucks to lose your job because your industry took a dump. It sucks more if you lose your job not because you’re not qualified or because you do a crappy job but because you can't live on $500 a month. I was outsourced recently. You have no idea how humiliating it is to have to train your replacement to do your job and he sucks at it but he will do it for so much less than you can. You get to sit down and try to teach this fresh out of out college idiot everything you know in 2 months and then you get to leave. If you don’t train him then you don’t get a severance and therefore go broke about 3 months earlier than you will normally in this situation.

The outsourcing of America is bad folks, plain and simple. Only the CEO's get richer. I could go on for hours about this but I'm telling you this; there is nothing safe from those outsourcing bastards! CEO’s, CIO’s, CFO’s know the offshore workers suck but they don't care because it saves a buck or two for now. They will have to spend it later when the system fails and those idiots go home because they don't give a **** since their 12,000 miles away and could care less. But for now it is what every company is doing so they all have to do it. Outsourcing is not the fix for all things and people better wake up and see that we are shooting ourselves in the foot by letting this go on.

Technology is what makes America great. We were the first to put a man on the moon. Do you think we did this by outsource? We are shipping all the research and design off shore. Ford sent 4,000 engineering jobs offshore. IBM 5,000. Microsoft 4,000. What is next? Is my new Ford going to have a curry holder instead of a cup holder? All the technology that helps us to be competitive is going away. We have a trade deficit of 45 BILLION a month. That means we buy more than we sell. This should scare you…. It sure does me!!!

One last point here and this is the really scary ****. Accenture got the Homeland Security contract. 10 BILLION DOLLARS. Do you know where they are located? The GOD D#@! Dominican Republic!!! That is total Bulls#$&. They don't pay taxes, that is why they are based there. We gave homeland security to a company that isn’t American?!?!?! And guess who is going to be writing all the code that will keep us safe from terrorists? Guess?????

People in Bangalore and Manila!!!! Yes folks they are going to outsource homeland security!!!!! The people around the world, who suck at writing code and testing it… I know this, I work with them a lot, are going to be writing the code that keeps YOU safe. Do you really think they care? Do you think that if they write ****ty code it will keep them up at night? And here is the best part...

YOU ARE ALL PAYING FOR THIS!!!!!! THIS IS YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!!!!

Web Dev has taken a nose dive this last month, I do a lot of flash/html work for you guess it... AA... so the rest of the year doesn't look to promising, I have been thinking of yet another career, maybe something in construction biz or hang with Cathy at Walmart. :-)

I had the same experience... except it wasnt due to down sizing... I have found that if you still want to enjoy racing but dont have the budget for all the parts.. fuel... TIRES... and everything else.... Go to your honda dealership and pick up a NSR. Tires last half a season to a season... and it is still racing.. I was spending tons of money every month that I went to the track and now it is less than 230 including my fuel to Hallett from Dallas.

Look at the bright side of minis... if you have to buy 2 sets of tires a season it sets ya back about .....hmmmmm.... less than 200.

I have worked in the chemical industry for 15 years. IT and Accounting have been outsourced for years. HR and Finance are in the transition. I am currently in the training/compliance department and wonder how long that will last. I am grateful for the years employed there but have to be realistic about the possibilities...they didn't guarantee me a job until retirement. Desperate times for many.

I gotta tell you, calling an entire industry evil is an intersting reaction to the grave situation we have in America. On the one hand, we have destroyed the future of nuclear power here, and made the economically competitive development of domestic oil and gas reserves almost impossible through ever more restrictive legislation regarding domestic drilling. Truth of the matter is, the automakers studies indicate that Americans currently don't want to pay for better fuel efficiency. Much of the interim technology is developed but just not being used. By 2040, hydrogen is the only solution, so you that are 25 years old will definately see what the world must go through to move to a totally different and emerging energy economy.

I have spent 25 years writing my elected officials, talking to them constantly, working within the industry to develop new and better technologies, and spending money to find the reserves, but it is way too little way too late.

Are the politicians, the corporations, the industries all evil? They are nothing but social collectives of human beings. I just don't like to hang human traits like 'evil' on groups. They are just mirrors of ourselves, and frankly, humans are just barely out of the trees, so there you have it. Evil? Nah, just stupid and a little ugly on the side....

Id like to try and find a endurance team that would let me ride at the Hallett races, but that would be the extent of my racing. Im going to try and let Savannah get into the junior motard thing. Had a blast this year. Ill be back sooner or later. I wasnt looking forward to going to TWS any way.

Had a blast this year. Ill be back sooner or later. I wasnt looking forward to going to TWS any way.
