New Garage Build... Suggestions?

For electrical, make sure there is a ceiling outlet for the garage door opener. For low outlets, make sure you have several for battery tenders for the bikes.

I also ran coax, cat-5 (wireless router in the house is iffy in our detached garage), and high outlets for a tv/cable box/surround system. By keeping it all up high on a shelf above the TV wall mount it saves floor space from not needing a cabinet to set it all on.

If it's possible add some sort of covered awning/carport structure attached outside the garage, it will help with cooling and heating much more than you think, plus it makes loading up in the rain or working outside the garage much more pleasant and would provide protection and coverage for anything that does end up outside as something most certainly will...

I agree on putting the 220/240 outlet and breaker in. Never know, and easy to do now. Might be a bonus for a potential buyer if you ever sell.

Look at how people set up their shops in Europe and Japan. In those places space is a premium, so they are very efficient.
220 is a must.
If your building it, insulate it well and consider AC/heat. It allows you to work year round at a much fast rate. A large vent would be nice too to creat circulation.
But, the one thing I'd want and allows for much better storage is a ceiling mounted gantry. You can build it yourself and it will allow you to pick up bikes and store them off the floor. It's also great for preventing back injuries.

Has anyone sunk a motorcycle lift table into their garage?



I'm considering having this done since it will obviously be easier during the new build. However... I'm trying to find a good quality table since the hole will be build specifically for it... without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions?

Maybe make hole generically larger and use metal or even wood spacer material. Could serve as in-ground storage while not being utilized by potentially larger lifts down the road.

I'd really like to custom fit one. So that's why I'm looking at some better made tables, from companies that will hopefully be around in the future, in case I need parts. ;)

Good time for an underground tornado shelter!
Hot water for washing in the winter.
Pegboard the crap out of one the walls now and put shelves all the way to the top of another.
Good quality epoxy on the clean concrete. If you say you will do it later, you are lying to yourself.
