In 2014 the rulebook stated 2004 as the cutoff. For 2015 I figured it would bump up to 2005, but it is still 2004. Next year, is the plan to move it to 2006 to keep the 10 year gap, just move it up to 2005, or just keep it at 2004?

Depends on the bike. We look at the cutoffs each year, but 2005 saw major advances for many brands/models while others remained essentially unchanged for several years more. What bike are we talking about?
How about a 2006 ZX10R (Gen 2)? Not much different from a Gen 1. Or if it is, I am not aware of why.
Mine is a 2005 GSXR600, which is the same as the 2004. I know there are allowances based on model similarity (ie, cutoff is 2004, but 05 allowed since it was unchanged), but was under the impression it was normally a 10 year mark for the base year, and then allowances noted based on unchanged successive year models. I was considering upgrading bikes in the off season, but like racing in MC and don't want to upgrade out of the class.Quote:

There is no rolling 10 year cutoff in MC. The machines that are currently allowed are allowed based on their performance not their age.

Thanks Walter and Alan. Don't remember where I picked up the '10 year' theory. Wasn't racing in 2013 and no longer have a copy of the 2012, so hadn't compared those to realize it hadn't changed since then.
Regardless of my faulty thinking though, any plans of it changing it next year?
