In 2014 the rulebook stated 2004 as the cutoff. For 2015 I figured it would bump up to 2005, but it is still 2004. Next year, is the plan to move it to 2006 to keep the 10 year gap, just move it up to 2005, or just keep it at 2004?

Depends on the bike. We look at the cutoffs each year, but 2005 saw major advances for many brands/models while others remained essentially unchanged for several years more. What bike are we talking about?
How about a 2006 ZX10R (Gen 2)? Not much different from a Gen 1. Or if it is, I am not aware of why.
Mine is a 2005 GSXR600, which is the same as the 2004. I know there are allowances based on model similarity (ie, cutoff is 2004, but 05 allowed since it was unchanged), but was under the impression it was normally a 10 year mark for the base year, and then allowances noted based on unchanged successive year models. I was considering upgrading bikes in the off season, but like racing in MC and don't want to upgrade out of the class.

05 gsxr 600 and 750 are allowed, not the 05 gsxr1000! (ty)

I must re-read the rulebook or pay better attention in the meetings but I didn't know there was a rolling "10yr gap"...... Quick question, will this "10yr gap" increase the entries or kill the entries we have built up with the current rules? Im open for any improvement to make this or any class grow. There is no rolling 10 year cutoff in MC. The machines that are currently allowed are allowed based on their performance not their age.

Just FYI from researching past Rule Books since it is easy for me to pull-up all the document files ....
"Modern Classic" was introduced in the 2012 Rule Book with "2004 model year or older" as the basis for eligibility with the additional phrase "newer machines that are identical to 2004 model year or older machines are eligible". That Rule Book language has never changed, 2012 through 2015.
The list of 'exceptions' is the same from 2012 through 2014. In 2015 the Buell 1125 was added with no change to the cutoff year for any of the other 'exception' machines:
"1999 and up Aprilia Mille & Tuono twins
Up to 2006 CBR600RR
Up to 2007 CBR 1000 RR
Up to 2006 Ducati 749
Up to 2006 Ducati 999
Up to 2005 GSXR 600
Up to 2005 GSXR 750
Up to 2004 GSXR 1000
Up to 2005 R6
Up to 2006 R1
Up to 2006 ZX6R 636cc
Up to 2006 ZX6RR 600cc
Up to 2005 ZX10R
All years Buell 1125"
Nothing in the history of the class suggests a 10-year gap, rolling or otherwise.
Hope that helps, carry on ;-)

Thanks Walter and Alan. Don't remember where I picked up the '10 year' theory. Wasn't racing in 2013 and no longer have a copy of the 2012, so hadn't compared those to realize it hadn't changed since then.
Regardless of my faulty thinking though, any plans of it changing it next year?
