Need clarification: so ALL bikes have to have a red light at the back even when it is not raining? I dont really have an electrical system on my bike. Is it ok to just strap a Nicad in the tail to run the light?
Also, it appears that I can run a full on 125 in F4 now but not a Moto 3 bike. They are comparable but the Moto 3 bike (which I have a Moriwaki 250) is forced to race with F2. Correct? If so, what makes the 125 appropriate for F4 but not he Mori?
Great rulebook. The only part I dont like (besides those silly tail lights) is the penalty point system. That seems ripe for tension between riders and the RD. Glad it his problem. :burnout:
strike my question about the Moriwaki please. I see the difference now. The Mori is equivalent to a power valve 125 so I see that it would be illegal for F4.
Chris, the red light rule says a separate power source is okay. It DOES read as though it must be mounted at all times even with no chance of rain.
The most interesting change to me is the allowance of work during an endurance red flag
Meh, just like those brake lever guards, its a solution looking for a problem but its not a big deal. It may not end up pretty but I can get a light on there with a 4 cell nicad. I just have two hopes; that it can last 8 hours and that I never need to use it. :astrosmiley:
I think the most significant change in the rules is the 75% rule. That changes everything considerably. A single DNF will most likely end somebodies chance of a championship. I don't understand why this change is being implemented. Can somebody give some feedback on this please??
I do understand. I also understand that if it is a 7 lap race then if you are a slower rider and only complete 5 laps you won't be credited for your race. This goes back to if you spent the money you should have a record for your race. That is not going to affect many racers but could keep a slower prov nov racer from having any points at all or technically completing races.
What is wrong with the way it has been? Why are we changing what works?
What does a prov nov that slow care about points?
Many people have a need to satisfy that sense of completion. There are also those rare instances where simply running the race and being consistent will earn an award at the end of the season. Sometimes the turtle beats the hare.
Jeremiah, your reading into this. Getting lapped isn't going to cause a 75% thingy....engine blowing, crashing, pulling in will be a problem with the 75% thingy. 1 reason for this change was way too many riders making poor unsafe decisions to get a lap while severely injured.
It is even part of prov nov requirements to complete races. This may be a technicality but we are starting to set a double standard in my opinion.
If we say anybody is fast enough to race in the CMRA and everybody has a right to earn a championship no matter how many racers were in the class then why are we saying we won't give credit to somebody who pays their money and gets on the track to do their race.
What was wrong with the way it was? Why change what works?
If the reason for it is safety of racers who are injured that doesn't change anything. Having a racer who is injured stay out on the track longer to complete more laps isn't making it safer. An injured racer is still a racer and is still going to try to save his season. It seems like it will be more unsafe if now he is going to be caught being lapped instead of just getting off the track at the second lap.
1. you need to clarify air cooled vs water cooled displacement limits in F2. and why not allow the 748.749 in lightweight twins also?
2. if you allow 125cc GP bikes in F4, you also need to allow MD250s or custom 250 4 strokes in GP frames.
3. Great job on the 75% race completion for points rule.
4. great job making big bike and lightweight endurance points the same across the board.
Thanks Danny, for clearing things up for me. I was just seeking some clarity on why the rule was made.
Sean numero uno. I like that. We may see this on a T-Shirt.
Thanks Danny for giving more air in Seans head!! lol
Fair point, probably something like this.
Up to 750cc 4-stroke twins, liquid cooled, 4 valve per cylinder,
Up to 800cc 4-stroke twins, liquid cooled, non-desmodromic valves, 4 valve per
cylinder,
Understand we are talking about grafting a pre power valve motorcrosser engine into a gp chassis here.
So, no quickshifter in C Super sport Championship Endurance. We have already bought a front Brembo Brake Master, if I read that right, that's not legal? Does it have to be model year specific or just model specific? R6 Brembo Legal? Our bike fits this class we want to run it, we can disable or remove the quick shifter, but we just spent the money on the brake master. Only problem I see for us right now.
Sean, this is very much about safety but it is also about fairness to those who suit up and run the entire race. There have been many occasions where the old one lap rule has been abused. As for the safety aspect I believe that unfit riders will be more likely to sit it out under this new rule. This is also an industry standard.
Thank you for listening to my idea for expert novice differentiation in ulwgp and E super stock.
USNE series is 3 BBE rounds and one lwt round?
Nope, that's my error as the word processor, thanks for the catch (though you could have just said "hey, the schedule is screwed-up!!" ;-).
The first USNE round should be TWS 8hr as shown on the website schedule page.
I'll fix that for the online edition if we have other revisions and it'll certainly be fixed for the print edition.
Please DO post here if anyone finds typos or word processing errors, however small they may be, so I can fix them before this goes to print .... Thanks In Advance
I was expecting to get a yes.
Thanks Alan.
So if we can use slicks in the e classes who makes them?
On page 'i', 2nd paragraph:
"The CMRA is managed by a Board of Directors is elected by popular vote..."
The second 'is' should be removed or "who(m?) are" added. I saw it an thought 'eh, whatever', but then saw you specifically asked for the grammar issues to be noted. My mom was an English major and I could, and still can not ever, remember the who/whom rules.
Thanks John, just making sure I have a complete understanding on the limitations. And lastly, if your creating a class that's supposed to be entry level or low cost, why make DOT's a requirement, when we know slicks last longer?
Damn....
Still no Modern Classick love for my 11 year old 2005 GSX-R 1000.
But, the 2007 CBR 1000RR is still.
Don't understand it.
Otay dough.
Yeah, i know.
Just biased on this particular since i own the GSX-R and not the hot pink CBR.
Anyone have any good links on what to buy? I'm assuming the thing to get here is a LED bicycle light mounted with zip ties and shoelaces.
Yeah... the bike ones look to be the easy-peasy way to get legal.
I like this one: Blitzen X1 Rear Bicycle Light
Supposedly lasts @ 15 hours on a single charge.

But... if you search "Rear Bike LED Tail Light", or something similar, on Amazon... you will get tons of options.
So wait....e superstock and superbike are now expert/novice differentiated??? And I got out of that class this year and bought another bike to try and win a novice championship!!!! Great.
