Thread: Guillermo A. Gonzalez (Pops) update.

Pops last night had a set back. It appears that the feeding tube in his stomach dislodged and caused his stomach to leak out acids. He had to have an emergency operation this morning to clean out everything that leaked out to his abdomen and also close the hole in his stomach from the feeding tube. The doctors just called us saying that everything is going really well and he's stable. They still have and hour left.

I will update as soon as he comes out.

I wanted to thank everyone for their support and prayers and we just ask to continue to have pops in your prayers.

Well after a very long week last week with the set backs pops had, im happy to inform that pops has been stable since last saturday and the doctors are wanting to move him to TIRR, which is there rehab center, by tomorrow. The last 3 days, pops has been more alert and opening his eyes a lot more, although still struggles to keep them open for long periods of time. All of his vitals are looking very good. They had him sit on a chair yesterday for a couple of hours and he was able to withstand the pain until he got tired. We are very optimsitic along with the doctors that rehab will help him make a fast recovery. The staff in the STICU have been very pleased with his progress and they want him to start rehab as soon as possible. We obviously still have a long road ahead but this is just the next step to get him back to recovering fully. We, the family along with friends, know we will have to work extra hard to give him all the support and love and push him as much as possible to get better. This has been and still is a very scary experience but all i can say is that GOD IS GREAT! Last week, they were going to put him on dialysis temporarily, the moment they brought the machine and get him ready they made us leave the room. When they let us back in after 45 minutes, we saw that machine was in the room but not hooked up. The nurse and doctors came in and told us that his numbers made a turn for the good and they felt that he didnt need it anymore, even though they were going to keep monitoring him. So far he keeps fighting and getting better and better.

Our family wants to thank every single person that has posted a message and has called to check on my father. All the support has been much needed.

    Thank you
