    No Replacement for TWS

After much discussion the BoD has decided to not replace the canceled TWS event that was scheduled for October 6-8. The only facility with avalibility on that weekend was NOLA. The BOD felt that the distance of travel, short notice, and the impact that Hurricane Harvey had on many of our members in the Houston area was to much to overcome.

The CMRA Championship Sprint Series and the CMRA ULW Sprint Series will both conclude the 2017 season with only nine rounds. We are still working on how to conclude the CMRA Championship Endurance Series. An announcement will be made shortly.

Thanks to you and the BoD for taking the time to consider the options.

Bummer - after the wash/freezeout in March, I know I was hoping for another shot at NOLA. Still, thanks to everyone for looking into the options and giving us an answer in just a few days.

I wish a voting poll was created to aloud the races to voice their opinion.
The BOD could even sent out emails to all racers asking to participate with a deadline for voting and then making a decision based on the results...

Well I had high hopes Nola would be the replacement, interestingly enough, we were going to skip the TWS round because of the short course. But, we had planned to make Nola if it was announced as a replacement. Being in Houston, I do tend to forget the drive isn't so bad for us, compared to Austin, Ft. Worth and Dallas.

Thanks for trying to make it happen.

I think the issue was too time-sensitive for that. We're less than a month out from the proposed day; a lot of people would need to make vacation/travel arrangements to accommodate the trip to NOLA, which would be quite a bit longer than TWS for the vast majority of our membership. So you'd either have a very short voting window, which would be a non-representative sample of our membership, or a longer window, which would would mean only ~3 weeks for people to put together new plans. If we had 4 months, voting would've been great. But we didn't.

Exactly. And that is also the reason we have elected members by the membership to make those decisions in short order.
