Thread: Mini Info needed

    Re: Mini Info needed

I agree with Troy 100%. I have built two of these bikes and the CR-85 or 80 motor is the only way to go. Even then you have continual problems. If you try to be the lone ranger on the grid with a RM or KTM then when you break your done. When I got out of this class the majority 90% plus of the bikes were a RS chassis with a CR 80 version motor.

Can Tommy Crawford provide mounts for an NSR50R chassis?

    Re: Mini Info needed

Crawford for the mounts and pipe,

Mr. Weiss for the tuning, he has mundo CR80/85
experience and a gaggle of young flat trackers
    as customers to prove it.

CR80/85, don't screw with any other motor, you will be the lone ranger and there is something to be said for riding as opposed to wrenching on race day....

Maybe I am missing something (VERY possible) but I think we are talking about a CR in a RS chassis.

If not then I retract the whole Crawford refernce....

    Re: Mini Info needed

Tommy Crawford can do either RS or TZ chassis, he has the jigs for both.

Machining on the motor is required for proper fit (at least on mine) and I recommend someone who has done it many times like Crawford.

Ditto on the mounting bolts. I've also broken one of the mounting brackets. On the CR/TZ the threaded a thin aluminum bracket for one of the mounting bolts to screw in to. That wasn't a great idea...Eventually we had to use a nut but the fit was really tight. For truly professional mount I would recommend boring a spot for a stainless steel thread insert on the bracket, but that's a lot of work.

The pipes on these things tend to break. It's really hard to get it right, but you can fab a bracket from the frame underneath the tail section to the stinger portion of the pipe, just make sure its rubber mounted to deal with all the vibration.

The Tommy Crawford pipe kept breaking so I had Jemco in Houston build one. Their first attempt shredded into pieces, but the second one was just right.
