    Hallett/foto41 Photos

I am trying out something new for photos and hope to get some feedback, but first, the back story:

For those few who may not know, I took over the role as club photographer from Shan Moore several years ago. I quickly learned that to get the photos the Club needed for the Newsletter and RRW, I had to take about 4000 photos at each event. Now since we only use about 30 photos at most for the two, I am left with about 3900 photos to spare.
A couple of years ago, I began putting the extras up at my website foto41.com for sale. Since I do not get paid by the CMRA to take photos and since camera's cost money, the sale of photos has helped to offset the expense, if only a little. During this period, many of you have supported this effort but as you might imagine, editing 3900+ photos can take some time and when I calculate money earned to time spent, well, I am not getting close to breaking even, let alone covering wear and tear on equipment. Add to that the increased competition from other photographers and the already small pool of interested buyers becomes almost non-existent.
So I am at a crossroads. Do I continue to put up photos or not? As some of you noticed, I did not put up any from ECR. I supplied the club the photos it needed and the rest are wasting away in the ones and zeros of my hard drive. Over the last month I have thought a lot about what to do. Seems kind of a waste that no one gets to see the photos I take that don't make it into the newsletter.

So starting with HMRC, I am going GIVE AWAY the photos I put on my website. You can select the photo, and a Save Photo box will appear that will allow you to download the image. No catch. The photos are free for you to use under a Creative Commons, Non-Commercial, Share Alike license.

If you decide you want prints, the Cart is still available. Just add the photos to it and I will add Hi-Resolution copies and do additional editing so that you get a great print.
If you want a CD, I will make those available at a fair price.
If you want to support me supporting the CMRA, you can make a donation to my PayPal account.

Either way, the photos are there if you want them.

    Enjoy.

    Barry

Your pics are always great Barry!!! I think that your idea is a great one if you were not getting a decent return on your work. I,for one, would gladly donate money for any pics that I download.
BTW, I didn't see any pics of me in the endurance photos. (Super Sad Face)
