New 50cc being imported???

Tonight, WED 9/10, American Honda announced that they will import the=20
CB50 into the USA for closed course competition use only. This is=20
more or less the 1998 Honda Dream with dual overhead cam, no lights=20
or horn, HRC performance kit and number plate.

In Japan there is an HRC cup and possibly if there is enough interest=20
a class can be started at various venues in the US.

AHMC also announced at the annual dealer meeting that the NSR50R will=20
become available in the US. This is a water cooled, 50cc 2-stroke=20
that is made for closed course competition only. It also has an HRC=20
performance kit.
In the promotional video, Yvon Duhamel is racing the CB50 at Las=20
Vegas Motorspeedway against his son Miguel on the NSR. Great fun.

This also means that parts will be available for these bikes here in=20
the US in case someone has already imported those bikes from Japan.

$5500 for the dream? Jeez I don't think they will sell to many, and $3600 for the NSR does not compare well with whats available for the mini class -
$1500-$1700 NS50R
$3000? Aprilia
$3000 MZ125 water cooled, already motard wheels and street legal

Yeah, Bryan, but it's good that HRC is taking an interest in American mini racing. I don't think I could justify the Dream 50 though it is WAY cool to an old fart like me, but the NS is a fast little motorcycle. It's already competitive in TMGP supersport. The ones here already are used/rebuilt older ones. You also left out the Metrikit (Derby) which can be imported. It's 3800 base price for the fifty, if I remember right. Things are hopping for the mini guys with this anouncement. Good news.

I wonder about that MuZ, how competitive it would be. The motor is not well known like the XR and TTR stuff, not much aftermarket support, but it might could be built by the specialist builders like http://www.barebones.net , who take on projects like that.

But, it's the end of the season near bouts and I'm pretty broke.... Besides, there's not much room left around here for more motorcycles....

If they are importing them then the parts
will be easier to get!

Same motor as NS50R, NS50F, NSR50, NS-1!

BTW I will have a race ready NS50F for sale
after teh 4 hour for around $1300.
No spares but runs well. Chris Newhouse was zinging well on it at TWS before there was a
chain mishap.

That NSR is a pretty good deal since it comes ready to race with the 20mm carb, race bodywork, etc. I think that's around the same ballpark as the MetraKit, except the MK comes with the pipe and other goodies which puts it around 11hp out of the box.

</div></div>That old fart was making big fun of me at Oak Hill when I had my daughter there last year. Said I should quit messing with kids bikes, LOL! Now, he rides a 50?! ROFLMAO. But, knowing Chris, all 200 and change pounds of him were pavement rippin' fast on that thing. I remember he was riding the 6 hour this year and going fast.

The Metra kit bike is a DEAL!

Initial price is high but it is a
for real GP race bike in 50cc format.
