State mandate? There never was a State mandate and you clearly didn't need a certification to conduct track day instruction, much less to teach a race class. You didn't have to be a lawyer to read the law and ask questions

As it is, by simply taking the path of least resistance, you created a sphere of State oversight that never would have existed otherwise.

To make an observation, if a for-profit entity wishes to offer certificates that 1) qualifies one for a MC license, or 2) qualifies as a driver's safety course, it is their prerogative to obtain State certification and offer those courses. However, if that org then actively attempts to use non-existent State law in an attempt to make themselves or their race schools more competitive, well that's HS.

Personally, I'd like to see a lot more transparency and accountability from the Board. What I've seen above is mainly defensive, which is odd, assuming nothing untoward transpired.

Brandt did all of us a favor, and while he/we couldn't undo all of the damage some on here assisted in causing, it's a step in the right direction.

For those of you that race, see ya in February. :-)

    Peyton,
For the record, your observation is HS!!!!
As far as assisting in causing damages........ REALLY!!!!
As far as BOD transparency??? WOW.
Why is that some people just need to stir up ****?
The people that claim to hate politics or believe they exist sure seem to act political? Some people cant help but be defensive when most of their internet life is spent taking bullets!!!
My time on the BOD is done and I'm going to spend that time dedicated to calling BS , BS.

It's amazing how this thread started with a question and has come to this. It looks like this whole thing went south at post #25 by Ted.
Brandt's post as I read it wasn't a personal attack or referencing RS as you (Ted) asked if it should've been read. If you read it as he punctuated the reply "you" refers to any organization, CMRA, RS, LSTD, Fastline, Whoopies, etc. Brandt was simply stating after what Peyton has accomplished with DPS there is no need (by the state) to be certified to instruct/conduct track day operations.
Peyton's stance as I read it was that if in the beginning had someone taken the time to question the legality/validity of requiring a track day or race club to become certified by the state this recent turmoil that individuals and tracks (receiving the letters) have gone through could've been avoided. Many may complain about government having their hands in too much of our personal business or in an area that in our minds doesn't require governing, for example track days and race clubs BUT if you just continue to comply and don't question then there is no reason to complain. Brandt and Peyton took that stand and for the time being have saved future organizations and instructors a bit of red tape lets say.
Quite frankly the only one I've seen from the BOD give any positive input and try and be objective is Jim Dugger. His post was spot on with regard to when the statute was written. He received my vote this year and will continue to receive it in the future with his diplomacy and how he is making an effort to solve a problem rather than throw daggers.
We are all in the same boat and I'd like to believe we all have the same goals, at least I hope everyone here does. Race...
See everyone next month at MSRH

    Art,
My business does provide a DPS ticket dismissal school, a street based beginner school and advanced rider/racing school. The only part of my program that won't be under the DPS guidelines is the latter.

Man... all I did was thank Peyton for his work in making sure that there was a boundary with the DPS because up until 1/15/2013 (the date on the new policy posted above) there was no boundary. I dont care what anyone says they've known.

    Good Lord!

And I agree with Macman.. let's just move on.

Hey Steve, I wasn't pointing any fingers. I was just trying to clarify as to how I interpreted the recent posts by others. I know you run a great organization and good to know you offer ticket dismissal! Hopefully I won't need to attend for that purpose.

Brandt I thought you Houston folks said Good Lawd!

    Moving on......

If I misinterpreted the intent of his post then I apologize. I am sincerely happy that this seems to clear the way for Brandt's school and others to continue teaching.

    Write your state Reps.

There's nothing like having a Senator, Representative, and a lawyer lighting a fire under someones ***.
