Thread: Pw 50?

    Pw 50?

I know this is a road race board, but I am unfamiliar with dirt boards (which are good or knowledgable and which would be full of scam artists) so I come to you guys. Jack (my 5 year old) wants to start riding/racing and the bike I am looking for is a PW 50 for him. Yes I know it is a gutless bike and he will outgrow it quickly most likely, but given my present situation in life a very simple bike is the wise choice.

Any recommendations for a board with good honest people that may be selling gear/bikes? Jack right now wants to play in the dirt (and a PW 50 on the TWS track may not even make it around the whole track lol)

Keep an eye out on craigslist, those little bikes are almost bullet proof. I just got my 3 year old son 2 of them... If it runs, its not hard to maintain it, 2 strokes are great for that.

These are fantastic beginner bikes! All three of my kids started on one, William Included. no open chain. metal bar under fender so dad can ride it. You can use a QT50 ring/pinion gear and give it way more bottom end. AMA legal mod. Pretty bullet proof but if you start racing them you kill the cylinders on the exhaust side. Keep them clean from mud and debris so cooling is good. You will score the cylinder on the exhaust side. new cylinder $120ish so not bad. YZ60 piston with and offset bore and some clutch spring does wonders for that bike. Should buy the 67.5 main jet right away. makes a difference in power as they are way to fat up top even for sea level.
If the kid starts jumping get the frame gusseted. Hit me up. Put many, many laps on the PeeDub at the MX track.

If you're still looking, I have one that my kids have pretty much outgrown. I put a new carb on it a little over a year ago because I never could get the old one to stay adjusted. Now it starts right up and purrs like a 2-stroke kitten. It's a fully stock 04 and I think I even have the training wheels around here too.

I'll have to verify its availability with the family but let me know if you're interested and we can talk details. I'm in Houston, but we typically come up to the Denton area every 4-6 weeks.
