Isn’t is sad how some people’s grip on their lives is so precarious that they’ll embrace any preposterous delusion rather than face an occasional bleak truth?

Just bad luck. The original was tired. Very, very tired. The rebuild was just bad luck. Threw a rod. The one thing I neglected to replace. Sh*t happens. Sad thing is we missed the first 20 minutes at Hallet because of it and more than likely would have finished 3rd overall had that not happened. We ended up 4th. The third motor was a cheapy ebay. I just couldn't afford to rebuild a motor again(not that I wanted to) and honestly didn't have time. The one at TWS was just bad luck again. Head gasket. Whatcha gonna do? That's racing.

Hell yes!! Agree 100% The 'cheap' racing with the 250 is what got me back to the track after so many years away.

Dang Brian, I knew you had some trouble, but didn't realize it was that bad. I remember the one at Hallett, and now that I think back, remember seeing your's smoking at TWS as well. Didn't know about the latest one though. Just to be clear, when I think of someone spending a lot of money on a motor, your situation is not what I'm thinking of. More of what Walter eluded to, with Formula type builds being done is what I was thinking when spending lots of money on a motor.

And what brought to the track to race.

Oh I know. I know what everyone is saying and know that my situation is not what everyone is talking about. Honestly if it were just me I'd have given up and regrouped for 2014. But I had a team that I was accountable to. Like I said though, I wouldn't "invest" a dime into anything 'race' unless I was prepared to lose it. Because that's exactly what money spent on racing is. Money lost. But I wouldn't change it for anything. I have a great team and love being at the track with some of the best people I'll ever know. You and Becca included.

On a side note, my bike aren't the only thing with motors that took a crap. I replaced my 5.9 in my truck about two months ago. Went with a very well built reman(I think I showed you the list) and some 50HP sticks.

    I think it's 47 HP stock

Full exhaust, PCV, & dyno tune for race gas must be where they are getting the extra 7 HP
Drop the race gas & I bet the increase would be around 3-4HP at best

The Euro Jr Cup bike weight is dry - no gas, oil, coolant, battery (321lbs)
The OEM weight is given wet - ready to ride (425lbs)
Combine that with a change of exhaust, rear sets, bars, fairing stay & probably an aluminum sub frame (vs OEM steel Fairing stay & subframe) would account for the weight difference (approx)
A change to a lithium battery would save a couple pounds too
