Best moments of the 2013 CMRA Awards Banquet

It will always be hard to top “Ty’s 2005 Overall Championship Speech”, but we had some great moments this year and here are a couple.

#1 – Rich Hogge and Greg Wanless accepting the “We’re #2 award”. As the speech started, I was about to pull my phone up and check the results to see if something had changed! I do not believe alcohol had any role in this at all though.

#2 – Never seen Ty Speechless after having a few drinks. Seriously, the speech for the Hall of Fame award was the shortest I have ever seen from him. Danny Dominguez did a great job on the intro and captured a lot of things about his career.

#3 – Danny’s Overall Award. This was Danny’s 2nd #1 plate. In 2006 when Danny started his first season…to remember hearing him say, “I don’t know how I will ever get the bike to go that fast…” (after watching Ty each weekend) to this year, meant a lot to me…and like Ty, I was speechless after getting the watch from Danny (and Kayla).

#4 – Jim Whitten missing from the awards podium – I can’t verify that Jim received an award or not…he was listed up there from what I remember, but most of the crowd somehow seemed distracted by one of the girl’s taking pictures. Jim, you are going to have to post the photos up…to confirm you went up there.

It was a great time, and I am glad the CMRA, Shandra, and the club chose to do this.

...and our table won a 500.00 Pilot certificate, which we had to about give away due to our Taichi sponsorship!

It was a fun night, even for someone like me who hasn't been on the track in nearly 2 years! I was sitting with Johnny Santana (donor of RS trackday), and the look on his face was priceless when they called out MacMan's name as winner. If Steve knew how to ride, I'd really love to see him actually do that trackday. ;)

Who said imitation was the best form of flattery? Was my brother, Brad, trying to imitate me at the Banquet....that's just wrong! He probably tried to take credit for all the great riding I did as well...now I'm really curious to see any video of those guys accepting the award. They probably badmouthed me stating I was somewhere I wasn't. Had to work, saving lives at Parkland!

He was more choked up over the Hall of Fame award than his perfect season #1 plate! Norm Mcdonald and Ty's video presentations where both great.

I'd tell you what they said, but there is free beer in it for me (and everyone else at the banquet) to just visit your pit and give you a hard time about it next year. See you out there!

Geoff Maloney's video and Brooks and Norm's tribute to Ty was very good. He's earned his place and it was great to see him inducted. And just seeing folks celebrating the sport was fantastic. Great place to have the banquet and thank you to all that made it happen.
