Alan also asked me about the throttle body bit. This is what I sent him:
To open up bolt on air filter possibilities as well as allowing for better air flow into the throttle body. I don't know if it's actually beneficial to top speed or anything. It seems that quite a few people have already done it though. I figured listing the most common modifications would be good, and turning the throttle body around seems to be up there with a pipe etc.
Just trying to make it appealing to people that have Groms to show up and race with minimal work to their bikes.
I like the do what you can with what you have approach. That's what got me into this sport riding a salvage 600 I built for $300. Now I don't own one of these bikes and only ridden one once so excuse my ignorance, but do you simply loosen the clamp and twist the throttle body in the intake boot, OR do you take the throttlebody out and insert the opposit side into the intake boot. i know it should be obvious but to me 180* could have two meanings here. not trying to cause confusion or mess with class structure, I just don't have anyone to race until February so this forum is going to have to do.
Ryan W. - Take a look at these pics ...

...forget the fancy adaptor shown, just rotate (as opposed to 'flip' end-to-end) the TB 180 and re-bolt the TB flange to the head (Google found this after PM to Ryan A. with my question).
KISS solution - cool.
Ryan A. - thanks for the PM reply![]()

I see said the blind man. I didnt even know it bolted on like that. That but of information alone answers my question. Thanks
Nailed it. It's just simply unbolting the intake manifold and turning it around the other direction.
It's a common thing to do on big bore Z50s to get the massive carbs and air filters to clear the fuel tank (as well as help the airflow as much as possible). People applied the same thinking to the Grom. Whether it helps or not, I have no idea. Lol!
Just so I have this straight, the 300's will only have a class in the endurance races? There aren't any sprint races for 300's yet?

No, I reread it, my bad, I was confused.
So 300's will not have an endurance class then?
