Then you probably answered no when you first opened it to not allow push notifications. Delete it and reinstall it or simply edit the notification settings and you should be good to go.

There is no "push notifications" in the settings of the app?

It's in the Notification Center settings section of the iPhone if that's the device you're using. All app notifications are controlled centrally here:

If this was the only medium, it would be a problem. If it's little effort to also use this and it proves itself near-instantaneous and reliable, it should be an excellent addition to standard calls.
