At least we have a chance at doing something like this, unlike with Oak Hill's demise (where I just heard the pavement is gone now).

I suggest you begin with the first few pages.

On topic though, this would be something that we would most definitely do. We might have to make some sacrifices earlier in the year, but this might be our only chance to run a 24 hour race. I wouldn't miss it, especially at one of our favorite tracks that will be no more.
It's true he does fall asleep pit side. I would absolutely love a chance to do a 24 hr race, especially at TWS, something about that place just makes it feel like 'home'.

As someone who saves pretty much all of their money to go racing, I can't imagine a better way to spend it. At first, the 12 hour format sounded to me like the way to go, but the more I thought about it, 24 is what I'm all in for. The first track day I ever went to with my dad was at TWS, and I can't imagine a better send off. I have to believe that sponsors and media would be all over this as well. Things like this don't happen often (if ever) in the U.S. for two-wheeled machines, and I can't believe I would have the opportunity to participate in an event like this. I am actively searching out solutions to some of the problems mentioned here.

Tom, it may be helpful if in the first post you put a list of potential road blocks to this event so the club can stay focused on what the real issues are. With that in clear view, we can stay focused on the obstacles we need to overcome.

Shoot, I have no idea what they are to be honest. Looks like the BoD is way on top of this though, and certainly Walter and Staff are too. I'm here to help, but those folks are the experts on the road blocks/ pitfalls/ issues are for sure.

Realistically, I don't think most of you realize the struggle that a 24hr race entails.. I've done it in a car, and while it was the most amazing time I've EVER had in my life, it was the scariest time of my life at the same time. I drove most of the night because my teammates were never awake for pit stops/driver changes... As for corner workers, we can't get the required number of corner workers for every weekend, how are we going to get 2 12hr shifts?

Every corner and every corner worker station would require lighting (for flags), possibly even a speed-limiting chicane before turn 1. AND forward lights on all of the bikes, and a tail/brake light. We had 3 Hella 500's and standard brights on our car, and it's top speed was 97mph at ECR; and we all know how horrible sportbike headlights are.. We were already out-driving those lights. I just don't see it ever being safe enough/possible.

That being said - I don't want this post to sound negative because it's not! If a 24hr race happens at TWS, I will come out of 'retirement' to participate. I want this to happen! I want to help any way I can to make this happen! TWS has become my favorite track, I would love to remember it with a 24hr BBE.

I remember hearing about Ty and Track Tactics scheduling a night track day at ECR, did that happen? If so, do you have any input on night racing?

    All these ideas sound awsome.
Hell, I haven't even raced to get my yellow shirt off yet and I'm all hyped about this idea.
    But......
It would be so much better with more than one keg and possibly some fireworks to literally go out with a bang!
Hell, I'd even volunteer my electrical services to see this go off properly.

    2 a.m. brainstorm -

    - Make it a charity event to get some help with the funding and event planning. Depending on who it is, they might even bring funding to the table.

    - Get the city of Bryan involved, and elevate it to a "community send off" to TWS. That way maybe they'll carry some of the water on bringing in local businesses who might sponsor the lights, etc. Might also be a way to get free corner workers...

    - Or make it a 'CMRA Racing thanks the City of Bryan for xx years of Motorcycle Racing" theme. That might take an advertising investment, but you'd get a health membership spike from the area in 2016

    - See if the WERA guys want to play. Certainly invite them to compete.

I know that this might take more work to get it going if you did it this way but once it had momentum, it would take care of itself if you got those other entities recruited.
