XR100 Rear Wheel Conversion to 17"

Anyone know or have any ideas on what to do to change over and convert the my son's XR100 to a motard 17" rear wheel?

I changed the front end to a CR85 already. I just need to figure out what to do for the rear now.

    Thanks for your help.

I've been wanting to do this and am also really cheap (no way I'd drop 1k on the Excell 17in wheels). And I haven't found anything that'll just bolt up. What people do on the kx65 is take a 12 in front and use the 12 in spokes and rim on the rear 10 in hub. Maybe that would work on the xr100 wheel? Use the rear hub and lace it up to a cr80 front wheel. Let me know if that works. Otherwise you can just buy the Excell 17in wheels.

My opinion...for the rear, just keep it on a stock hub.

We bit the bullet and had ProCycle in Oregon lace up front and rear wheels on new stock hubs. They included some Dunlop take offs as part of the deal. We spent less than $1100. Again, this is the front and back.

OR...You can either buy a hub on ebay, dealer, etc. and contact Buchanan and they will prepare a wheel and spoke kit and do it yourself or have them do it.

I´ve done both of the methods Heinz mentions back when I used to race the 100s a bit. Very reliable done right.
I have one set, used, left. PM me if interested.

I have 2.50" and 3.50"x 17 for CR85/ CRF 150R with spokes in stock. The front kit with Buchannan spokes are 220 shipped. The problem for you then is the rear hub which is a 36 hole drum. A pro wheel is about 175 plus spokes which will be around 275 total. I charge $75 a wheel to lace and true. I am also a dealer for Buchannan and can order Excel and Sun rims depending on use. The KX65 deal mentioned is not good, that is putting a really small 1.4" wide rim n the front or back causes the tires to pinch and fall in about mid turn. Our KX kit of 2.15 front and 2.5" x 12"is $320 shipped. I do have 12s for the XR but people feel that it is too low for that conversion. I will have my own 17" ful line soon. There was an industrial accident near out rim plant causing a genera stoppage this year. Kevin 225 315 3423, Good job Mark on your dirt wars victory!

Kevin, i didnt even think to call you on my wheel.
im really sorry. Id rather do business within the club anytime.
i guess all i had in mind was that maxxis tire and davey sells them.
all great prices, Kevin and i know its alot of work to put a wheel together too.
i'll tell my dirt wars buddies to call you when they need wheels, sir.
