Ultrasonic cleaners are great and DO help. But they are not a complete substitute for some experience and competence and elbow grease and giving a rat's ***.

Agree with Roger, that ultrasonics do work, but I found I had to soak them multiple times and blow everything out with compressed air in between dips. One big drawback was how pissed the wife was for me putting carbs in her ultrasonic jewelry cleaner
Tell her to be happy she has Jewelry to be cleaned!. The methods may vary but if the end result is clean then its ok. Complete dis assembly, soaking in Berrymans carb dip and spraying them with carb cleaner and hi pressure air is my preferred method for cleaning, I have a walnut shell blaster for remove sediment etc. It takes a while and the end result is clean. Yo still have to remove the pilot adjusting screws and o rings and the jet to clean that passage no matter if ultrasonic of chemical.
