    Sand in the tank...

So, I bought a used tank.. looks good.. seems to be a little sand in it. What is the best way to clean that out?
    Thanks in advance!

I would try compressed air first.

Assuming the tank is otherwise empty and dry and has no explosive fumes in it:

    1. Find some plastic hose that's flexible enough to feed down into the gas tank but stiff enough to stand up to a vacuum. I'm thinking that 1/2" clear stuff that comes on a cheap squeeze-bulb siphon would do just fine. Two or three feet should be plenty.

    2. Get out your shop vac and stick the hose a few inches into the shop vac's standard hose/attachment. Use duct tape to seal up the gap between the two.

    3. Hold the tank up and shake it so that the sand accumulates in a corner, or as close to a "corner" as the shape of the tank allows. Feed the end of the hose through the fuel filler down into that corner and vacuum out the sand.
