If you live south of Dallas, and plan on going up to hallet Thursday or Friday night, dont take 35E. 3 lanes to 1 just north of Lewisville, backed up for miles. Only at night though.

Ihave an alternate route for anyone interested, this is the way I always come from Dallas, my parents live in Pilot Point, thus I konw the area.
If you go from Dallas up North Tollway to 380, head west to 1385(towards Pilot Point) follow that until you get to a stop sign, take a left, the next stop sign take a right, that is 377....
Take 377 North, take this all the way up to Hallet, it will turn into 99 along the way, but it literally comes in the back way to Hallet rather than coming from the turnpike
I have shaved quite a bit of time coming from North Dallas going this way, and much more scenic compared to I-35
Check out Mapquest etc. also for more info....

How is the 377 drive from Dallas to Hallett as far as speed limit and stops? Coming from Houston (Northwest via Highway 6 to Waco), I thought I might take 35W to Gainesville, TX then go 14 miles east on 82 over to the 377 and go up from there. Should I just stay on 35 all the way up? Does anyone take 44 East out of OKC for 60 miles and go up from there or go north out of OKC on 35 and then cut over due east. I have only tried the last option as well as coming up 75 out of Dallas and doing that turnpike junk around Tulsa (I don't like that way).

My last trip to TWS, I was slowed to 15mph for around 10 miles in Norman, Oklahoma, and totally stopped for one hour just South of Ardmore, Oklahoma for a construction area. It took me 2 hours longer to drive there than the last time.
I-35 has some issues along that area by the Casino. Unless that has been completed, plan on adding around 2 to 3 hours to your normal drive time for the construction in North Dallas by the loop and the Ardmore and Norman construction delays.
