Any new 160/60 tires?
"Dunlop polled club racers and determined that contingency wasn’t a big reason why racers choose a tire brand at the club level." Not surprising since a majority of people voting were not eligible for contingency! Good for the majority of us!

I like how you're calling it a "price reduction" instead of focusing on the real fact that you're canceling your contingency program for racers, wonder how many of the "fast" guys that did infact sign with 'lop are regretting it now...
If you're so concerned about sponsoring the top 3 experts' race program, feel free to send them a check. Personally, I'm glad to spend less money on a product's marketing costs.

For Joseph - I won Dunlop contingency money last season, my endurance team consistently won contingency money last year, and I still voted for cheaper tires instead of contingency. I re-upped my sponsorship contract with Dunlop before the announcement was made, and I wasn't bummed out because the program was cancelled. Honestly, it's a lot of work to win contingency. Cheaper tires are of much more use, because you still get the benefit of a reduced price, even if you win 4th or higher. I'm not a "fast" guy, but I don't regret re-signing with Dunlop even if there's not contingency this year.
Why? 1) Level of service - we are fortunate to have very good tire vendors at our events, period, for all the brands. However, when Steve took over, I really appreciated the level of service I was given, even though I'm not a "fast" guy. 2) Quality of the tire - I like how long Dunlops last, and I stretch them until they're past the wear bars. Now I will pay less than I did last year, get the same quality, and have more $$ in my racing budget. 3) I just like the tire - contingency or not, it's a brand I have faith in and trust that it's going to stick to the track when I need it to. But since I'm not a fast guy, I would defer that you could ask any of the riders on the Village Idiots or LocoMotion about their thoughts on that - they're all fast guys, on Dunlops.
Lastly, if you're only interested in running a tire that pays contingency, you can look at what the payouts are for what brands (it's listed in tech) and make your own determination from there.
Oh, I'd never run anything but Pirelli, anyone who does is just leaving speed on the table...
...then why did you even open this thread?
