All jokes aside, the question wasn't for a specific track. She asked the typical "How fast do these motorcycles go?" question and I talked about that while they're capable of speeds possibly to exceed 200 mph with the proper gearing and space to do it in, our craft is more in tune to turns rather than top speed. She asked how fast we go through turns, and I said that they can reach or exceed 120 mph in some cases but be as slow as 30- 40 mph in some turns too.
As par usual, they took a 20 minute interview and used 30 seconds of it. There was a lot more "plugging" for the CMRA and track days that were (obviously) cut out. In the end, I was happy to help out and I think Channel 11 and Shern-Min did a great job. The whole point of the piece was to exemplify that there are alternatives to riding on the street and the street racing scene by demonstrating the safety and organization of track days and racing. I think they got that point across pretty well given the short blurbs they used from our interviews.
I'm so glad the Julie and Shandra got a chance to get some exposure for the CMRA and used us "regular" folks to do it with by arranging this TV news segment! Big shouts out to Julie, Shandra, Memo, John Redford, Bryan Evans, and the whole crew out there that day (there were about 10 folks) who helped get some on-track footage and information to the news channel. I'm just glad I was able to help out!
