Because I decided this year, instead of putting myself into situations I didn't feel comfortable with, I decided to do more track days at tracks I don't know to get myself at a level where I'd feel comfortable riding around in the expert group and try to go to a track or two that's far away (like Barber). Unfortunately, I don't have the disposable income to do both...which is exactly why I only do one or two rounds a year.


You're right. I'm bitter. I really wanted to run circles around all these little ***** ***, slow *** novices this year running 39s at houston at the first round and lock up the championship.

Actually - I'm not stupid. If that was the case, I wouldn't come in here letting people know about my personal reasons for not wanting to be moved up. I probably would've just said "Well - glad my name wasn't thrown out there" and kept moving. But that's not the case. I came in here because all too often people don't understand things that they don't personally experience.

If I was to be bitter about something, it would be of our education system who failed to teach you the difference between your and you're.

Please let me know if you have any other wrong assumptions of me that I can clear up for you.

Should it really make a difference? Whether you asked for promotion or it was done automatically shouldn't matter, in the end you have expert status and should have the skill set required for it.

Maybe, maybe not, I don't make those decisions. So there were some riders that were promoted ( I assume in A Superstock/bike ) that were beat by 10 or more novices?

Yup, one experts lap time wouldn't have even put them on the podium for ULW GP novice. So my question is, how slow is too slow to be an expert? I know lap times aren't everything but surely there is a point when too slow is a problem.

I agree, I think predictability and holding your line have a lot to do with it besides lap times. I am making the argument that when the club promotes you, it usually means you have proven where you belong. My point is if you were promoted by the CMRA, then there is a good chance you already run fast enough to not be DFL in your expert races, maybe even a lot faster (like top 10 expert). This all riding on if you were the only one promoted or not.
