Good afternoon
We remain active in the process of insuring a track is available for everyone. We also are focused exclusively on the triangle of Houston Austin San Antonio.
There is much going on below the surface both with our beloved TWS and if that is not successful a new replacement track.
Unfortunately for everyone involved this is not a fast process, and as we learned in Washington County advertising locations before final selection is made is not desirable.
So where does this leave our Motorsports community. Without putting to fine of edge on it TWS remains the crown jewel in the process.
While we wish the current ownership all of the best in their plans the reality is there has been a massive shift in economics since they originally planned the subdivision. Much of the oil related retirement funds which drive the local economy of College Station has temporarily been displaced. This may make the development plan more difficult and less attractive.
If the development plans for conversion to a subdivision develop issues that make moving forward in that direction less profitable than selling the track to us I'm sure the current ownership will move back in our direction.
If this is the case we will once again reach out to investors, as well as garage condo buyers and perhaps even commercial users to help defray the costs.
If the development plans are successful for the subdivision and the actual track at TWS is closed and torn down we are prepared to then move forward with our alternative site which has been vetted and much of the site work done.
So many ask why wait, the answer is simple keeping TWS open and rebuilding this iconic track is our first priority.
Secondly from an economic standpoint there is not sufficient market share to have two major competing tracks. We can't invest 18-22 million to create a new facility and then have TWS linger on or be purchased by another party and restored.
So in closing we are working on the project but time is required, and I would be surprised if TWS actually closes in June as projected. So unless there is considerable movement on some of their issues we should have a track for some time to come.
