The 2017 CMRA Rule Book states that "Novice riders finishing in the top three (3) in final season point standings in all CMRA Novice and Combined (no Expert/Novice differentiation) sprint classes will be considered for promotion to Expert status at the end of the racing season. The CMRA Board of Directors may review the number of Novice riders to be advanced each season, and may use additional criteria to determine advancement. Additional criteria may include individual finishes, lap times, safety record and the ratio of rider results to the number of riders, among others."

In seasons past, the entire top 3 list was posted for review. This caused a fair amount of confusion among those who appeared on that list and led to a large number of appeals. In an effort to avoid that confusion this year's list has been trimmed down to include those riders who are most qualified to be advanced to Expert status. This list started with the top 3 in all Novice and combined classes. Additional criteria was then applied which included the rider index with a cutoff of 0.59 to narrow the list. Individual lap times, safety records and personal observations were then applied to get to the list below

Please note: Any rider who feels that there were extenuating factors which contributed to their advancement may submit an appeal per the 2017 CMRA Rulebook. Appeals are to be directed to nancy@cmraracing.com. Please do not contact Board Members or the Director of Competition directly.

There were a number of Novice status riders who could have been bumped. Those riders who were not on the bump list but wish to be moved to Expert status for 2018 are encouraged to submit a request to nancy@cmraracing.com.
